I was wondering about shooting ranges rules. I have to admit, that I'm not a conasuier of shooting ranges and other than military ranges have only shot at a couple of different ones in Texas, WA, and Illinois.

A previous poster had posted some people had gotten annoyed and started a fight at a shooting range about a dress code. Personally I can't imagine joining a shooting range that had a dress code. All I'm concerned about when I go to the range is that the safety rules are STRICTLY enforced, I could care less what the guy in the lane next to me is wearing. I also can't imagine a no smoking policy on the outdoor range which I guess is also a rule there. What about chaw? Heck the range I shoot at has holders for drinks and paper cups above the ashtray for chaw.

Is this becoming the norm? Are shooting ranges becoming trendy with dress codes, smoking bans outside? Has the latte crowd and yuppies invaded the shooting world as well?

I am thinking about buying a good semi automatic .22 (mostly for target and bunny bop'in) and hear a lot of hype about the ruger. Are there any other good semi auto .22s other than the ruger?

it is a glenfield model 10 single shot bolt action 22 rifle with 4x scope it is in excellent condition made by marlin firearms. Right where the stock and barrel meet it is stamped BL on the barrel does that mean anything? I don't need this rifle how much could i get out of it? or does it just vary by gun dealers?

My grandfather is dying and is leaving me his bolt-action rifle (which he made the stock for himself). I'm not sure if he has or needs a permit for it. When I inherit it, will I need to get a permit for it just to keep it in my house? I don't ever plan to use it. I live in Minnesota.

I was at the range on Saturday. The rules say no military style clothing, unless you are ACTUALLY in the military. This includes camo. No police style clothing, unless you ACTUALLY are a police officer. It's called respect for those in uniform. I have to agree, I hate the "men" who "play soldier" with guns and fatigues, but wouldn't dare step into a recruiting office.
Several times at the range, those types tried to gain entry and were denied. A fist fight actually broke out and a gun was drawn by one of them. Ridiculous. You'd shoot someone over dress codes that respect those who serve.
There is a "no smoking" policy that was cause for ejection of several. It's very hard to concentrate with smoke all around you.
I never saw such an unruly crowd as this weekend. Do you think this is the "typical" shooter or did we just happen to get all the jerks this weekend? Thanks.

Letters FIBH on tongue behind trigger gaurd. -12 gauge Full Choke, Barrel and Lug Forged in one stamped on barrel

I am heading to a gun show this weekend to pick up a 12 gauge pump action. I don't want anything fancy just a basic gun. However I do want a known quality brand. I want an all purpose gun for mostly shooting clay, but not for home defense. Also, something easy to clean and maintain. Can you please make a recommendation on what gun and barrel length? Also, what should I expect to pay? Thanks

I'm 24 and going hunting for the first time in my life. I purchased a CVA muzzleloader from a friend for $50 and it includes everything I need to get started. As far as safety goes, how more or less dangerous are muzzle loaders compared to conventional bullet rifles?

A friend of mine had a nephew that used a gun to kill himself several years ago. Its been in storage at his sisters house ever since, and the family wants to get rid of it. Of course practically, they could try and sell it, but because of the history they don't feel emotionally able to do that. Does anyone know of another option? We live in Utah, so I suppose there may be legalities involved. Any help is much appreciated.

OK, why do they have to disply that on espn but it's ok to have every other show on normal tv to have graphic violents without warnings! Shows how much impact antis have on hunting.

Moving to Philadelphia, would like to buy a handgun to keep in the house, probably get carry & conceal license.

I am planning on going to the shooting range, taking the classes, etc.

What would your suggestions be for a first time buyer?

I realize that these are two different rounds, but I don't really know anything about the .45 colt. I have a Glock model 21 that uses .45 ACP. How does .45 ACP and .45 Colt compare ballistically?

Thanks!
