"Winchester" is a trademark name that the Olin company of Illinois owns and they lease it to FN-Browning. Olin spun off the Winchester gun co. , kept the ammo division (Smart!), and sold it to USRAC (US Repeating Arms Co.) in the late 1970s and in turn FN-Browning purchased USRAC ("Winchester gun") in West Haven,Conn. This is how you got FN-Browning-Winchester in the 1990s. The old New Haven plant is closed now but the name is still used by FN-Browning and they still have t pay Olin every year to use the name. Below is the current site continuing the legacy without the New Haven facility. Don't listen to the goomers.

Winchester closed the doors, US Repeating Arms has bought the company. My guess is that US Repeating Arms will reactivate the 94 as it gets a chance to tool the equipment to do so.

Why did Winchester stop making the 94??? Winchester stopping making, period. They closed their doors. They may re-open one day building their guns elsewhere (like in Japan perhaps).
Best.
