If I want a full size Sig the P226.

I would not buy a Baretta if I could have a Sig.

I don't think I'd set my sights on one particular caliber or make. The best way to shop for a pistol is to ask some key questions such as; What do I want to use my pistol for, How much do I want to spend, and How much is ammo going to cost me? When you decide what you want to use your pistol for, it will be a guide for choosing a caliber. If it's for target shooting, a .22LR is your best bet because ammo is cheap and a semi-automatic like a browning, ruger, or a smith-wesson will in most cases be between $200-$400. If it's for self-defense, you can get some pretty good pistols for less than $500. Taurus, Bersa, Ruger, Comanche, Firestorm, and Charter Arms make handguns that generally price under $500. Some good calibers for self-defense are .32 H&R magnum, .380, .38 Special, 9mm, and .357 magnum in these makes for a reasonable price, yet the recoil isn't so overpowering that you can still hit what you aim at. In terms of ammo, 9mm and .38 special are some pretty affordable choices because you can buy both self-defense hollow point ammo and 9mm full metal jackets, and .38 special wadcutters without breaking the bank. Hope this helps and good luck.

Based on money (or in my case lack of it...lol) Beretta. BOTH firearms are great in line of manufacturer and what I have heard from both. I have shot Beretta's before and owned a 9mm Px4 Storm. I have never shot or owned a Sig 9mm. I just like how they feel in my hand and would not mind buying one.

Hands down Px4 Storm. They also have a carbine that uses the same magazines. It is accurate and light.
Compared to a Glock they are way better. I sold my 17 and 21c after getting the Px4. 2 years later and I haven't regretted it yet. I used to be a "Glock Head".
Check out the Cx4 Carbine, which rounds out the arsenal.....

Step up to the more efficient round ... 40 S&W like a Glock G23 or G22 the most popular and best semi-auto right out of the box. The Glock G27 is the Sub-compact .40

Neither one I prefer the Smith & Wesson or Colt in 357 Magnum because you get two (2)* handguns for the price of one(1)*.. You can also shoot 38 caliber ammo in a 357 Magnum.* It is a real man stopper.* Its not what you pay for something that matters, its what you get for what you pay.* Buy used & save $$$$.* A new one doesn't shoot any better than a used one.*

Neither... 9's are sissy pistols. Get atleast a 40, preferably a Glock.
Or really step up and get a 1911 in .45
