Like most people have said, it depends on your state. I am in NV and there is one all purpose class and we covered both firearms and archery. Like army dog said in Idaho there are two separate classes. But you might be lucky like me and there might be an easy way around having to take any archery class. Go to your state department of fish and game website and check for a hunter safety menu that there should be, and see if they require an archery class. If they do not, then you shouldn't have to take any archery class to hunt not only your state but in another state either. I have drawn archery tags here in Nevada for years and I wanted to hunt elk with my bow in Idaho a few years back. Idaho said I needed to take the class or I needed to have hunted or drawn an archery tag from another state. I obviously had hunted archery in NV before, and I was saved from sitting in a room all day going over archery basics. So hopefully for you your state doesn't require two classes and then you should be set as long as you get a tag and hunt an archery season in your state first. So go to your state website and look for any hunter safety info, if you can't find any, call them and ask, take the required classes (hopefully just one), and hunt archery in your home state first and then you should be able to hunt every state in the country without ever having to take an extra class. Hope this makes sense and helps.

If you live in the southeast you can take an online hunter's education course. I'm not positive what the web site is, but you can access it through outdooralabama.com. There is no additional courses needed to bow hunt other than the hunter's education course. My state (Alabama) also mandates a one day field class in addition to the online portion of the test. Good luck.

It all depends on where you live. It veries state to state. In Idaho you have to take hunters ed to hunt and then bowhunters ed to hunt with a bow. I had to sit and listen to an old geezer talk for a week on how to hunt with a bow even though we never shot a bow in that class, we just did workbooks.
If you want to find out for sure go to your states Fish&Game website and look what it says.

depends on your state,,, in missouri you do not need hunters safety at all for archery hunting, not sure why that is but that is the way it is. some states require bowhunters ed. and some let you use the regular and some require nothing for archery , check your local laws on this

It depends on where you live, really. Take the Hunter's safety course, and if you can find a Bowhunter's Safety course, take that too.

Cover all options and make sure you are safe out there - as well as making sure everyone else is safe, too.

it depends in which state you live. in PA rifle, bow and muzzleloader are all covered under one Hunter Education course. in the nazi state of NJ where i lived for awhile, i had to take a 10 hour course for archery as well as a 10 hour course for long guns (rifle/shotgun). i believe that there is also a 10 hour course for black powder in NJ.

so it would be best to check with a local sporting goods store or your state's wildlife conservation department.
