What are the best knots to use to tie a fluocarbon tippet to the leader and a fluocarbon tippet to my fly? Preferably 100% strength knot that won’t allow the fluocarbon to cut into itself.

I might be fishing on the ocean soon, near where people swim. Should I be afraid of the hook coming off in shallow water and poking someone's foot? thanks for your experience.

Anyone have a recipe for brining or boraxing anchovies so they stay on the hook better? Something the fish will still eat. Thanks

If a reel is rated at 12 lb test, should you spool it up with nothing higher than 12 lb test line?

I am trying to find a decent fishing rod/reel combo for around $100 dollars. Any suggestions? Do you recommend a spinning reel or bait cast reel? Will be used for bay fishing in TX.

Hi guys,

I just got a new saltwater Penn 650ssm reel and I was setting the drag this morning. I cranked it all the way down and it was only able to get about 10lbs of resistance. I was very disappointed as my much smaller freshwater Quantum Catalyst can do 10lbs of drag.

Do you think this is abnormal? I would like to use this setup to catch big fish (i.e Kingfish, Grouper, Snook, etc.)

Could you recommend another nice spinning reel for catching these species of saltwater fish?

Thanks!

My boyfriend and I are gonna go deep sea fishing for the first time. We will probably go from 6am to 11am in Redondo Beach, California. What should we wear? Will it be cold, hot, windy, sunny etc.? Should we wear clothes we don't care about ruining? Will we ruin our clothes and shoes? Should we wear a certain type of shoe? Any advice, tips, comments etc. will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I mean everyone loves to catch 20 fish in 3 hours but the best times to fish in my opinion are when you have to dig deep into that tackle and make clutch choices and find a way to produce. that really defines a true fisherman.

I found a can of mackerel at the local grocery store and Pi was wondering if this made good bait, I'm going to use it in saltwater, possibly for some catfish too,
so here's what I'm thinking, if I put it in a panty hose (same way you put chicken livers in one for catfish) and tied it to the hook, do you think I could land some fish?

I like this girl who really likes fishes. I don't have much money, so I couldn't afford to buy the already trained fish from this guy. I ended up getting 2 undomesticated rainbow trouts (cause they are all shiny and rainbowie pretty all over). I am having the girl Gafilta come over later today cause I told her that I have trained ex-circus fishes... Problem! One trout is completely wild, vicious and entirely unapproachable, and the other one, although very friendly, only knows how to swim upside down. What are some really simple tricks I can teach them and FAST. I have about 4 hours.
