Try anchoring in DEEP water, and use a good sized treble hook, with as large a blob of nightcrawlers as you can attach to the hooks. Let it sit on bottom, until the fish moves off after taking the bait. I use a"super" line. Like Spiderwire. Amazingly strong and thin. You can spool up with 40-60lb test line, and it's still VERY thin. Big sturgeon just pull you and the boat around while you play them. With extremely large fish, you simply use the motor to follow them, and to prevent them from just taking all the line and then just breaking off. It CAN take hours.

I only know of one or two lakes in our state that has sturgeon and they're protected. You'd better check with your DNR and see if you can even fish for them, they may have a one time one fish law or not open at all. That's maybe why this one is so big. Actually the biggest one on record was in the Gun flint Trail of Northern Minnesota,a dead one was netted and it went something like twelve feet long, was around eight hundred pounds if it was alive.

a boat rod like they use for deep sea fishing and a good quality reel are a must for fish that large. Line I would go with at least a 40 pound test main and up to 100 pound leader. They like the deeper holes so they can get out of the current. Just like catfish they prefer real bait. Usually dead but, FRESH. If your state allows snagging fish (seasonally) I would suggest a high end snagging pole and a weighted treble hook also called a snagging hook.

not at all BE constrained to a minimum of one entice/BAIT!!!!! try various diverse rigs, combinations, baits, diverse colored lures, categories of lures. additionally attempt to go around. while you're fishing for a whilst in a undeniable area and dont get any bites, change lures numerous situations. in case you nonetheless cant get any bites, try diverse places around the lake. i prefer to advise which you bypass to the interior sight library and get some books on fishing (attempt to get the main contemporary ones by fact fishing tech has replaced over the years). academic movies are additionally a huge help in case you will locate any. yet another unbelievable theory is to bypass on your interior sight handle save and ask them with regard to the lake you're fishing. they would be responsive to the suitable places, lures, baits etc. solid luck!

where are you from might help but I use an enourmouse rig a 10 foot medium fibergalss rod with a huge reel and 40lb test fireline. when I spoke to the Ministry of natural resources they said to use GOBYS but since it is illegal I don't think it was very good advice but they said that is what they use so WTF Most people where I fish use huge hooks with a bunch of worms and minnows on it but I am fishing a river so we can concentrate our fishing in smaller areas where the river narrows you will be guessing where this monster is good luck

Use a big piece of chicken guts or something bloody, let it sit on the bottom. Thats for the big ones, you can probably catch some with just big minnows or put a minnow on a jig. good luck.
