I have a 45' bayliner and am considering buying a sonar for that stuff. I need help. I understand them but which one should I buy? Can I see the difference between tuna and marlin?

The technology in the new sonar is something else now days. They have the new side sonar and three "d" my son has the side sonar and it's like looking at the fish on a TV set, it's great. Go to "Boating world" and ask to see it. You can get the new TV sets that go down up to 600 feet. My sonar goes to 600 feet without a problem and you can learn to differentiate between the fish.

No the technology is not so that you can differentiate between types of fish yet. I have one I use on deeper water (up to 500 foot) and can see railroad cars, cars and schools of fish. I can see the difference in the sizes of fish though
