I have a daiwa beef stick 12' for only twenty bucks brand new, works fine, however shakespeare has some nice surf rods too, less than a hundred bucks though, I'd get a 12' ugly stik surf rod, why are you sold on expensive rods?

The gruesome Stik is an exceptionally stable answer. it somewhat is without doubt one in each and every of the few rods which could take a beating and stay to tell approximately it. I even have caught and released 80 lb. sharks down in the Keys on a 6' freshwater variety. yet another rod & reel blend I even have had stable success with is the Penn Captiva. This rod can take a beating and are available up smiling. the two rods retail for in straightforward terms one hundred dollars. better of success to you on your rod determination!

Shakespeare makes a 12' rod. It's heavy but good quality for the money. If you are willing to go down to 10'6" you could buy a St. Croix Triumph fishing rod. It's a lot lighter and more flexible.

I used a raintree blank and built my own rod from that but, I also have two of the Diawa "Beefstick" rods in 12 foot and like them alot. Plus I have a powertip in 15 foot that is awesome, in my opinion.
