I'm considering a Ruger 10/22 but wanted other input. I'll scope it and would consider a bolt or semi-auto action. Simply put, what's the best buy out there for a new OR used .22 at that price or below? I'll use it mostly for targets, rabbits, etc.

The 'Gamey taste' comes from two things, primarily; adrenalin coused be stress from a badly placed shot causing a slow death, and by butchering an amimal without 'ageing' it in a cool place. I was just reading an article in Field & Stream that said the same thing I did in my thread on Ageing Deer. A small one should be aged for at least 2-3 days and a bigger one for 5-7 days before butchering. This eliminates any sign of Gamey Taste without spices or soaks. The meat can then be prepared useing the very same recipes you would for beef, pork, or any other meats.

I am looking into some camping gear, specifically a camping stove to get for a 4 night camping trip in the Banff/Jasper/Glacier/Zion area's. Mostly summer camping, not at extreme elevations.

I see two types, liquid fuel type, and lpg fuel type.
I understand that you must prime the liquid type fuels, and like the fact that i can refill very cheap with fuels such as gasoline, whereas the lpg (gas) type are in non-refillable canisters.

Any up's or down's to each?
I will probable buy from the Mec website, any suggestions?

I had several pistols jam on me at the range the other day (I'm a novice), and I had to manually pull the slide back to get them firing again.

What causes this kind of jam?

What can one do to minimize such occurences?

What can one do to fix a jam, other than manually pulling the slide back?

Thanks!

I know that having any polarized sunglasses is better than not having them...but should I invest in the expensive ones?
I am mainly a bass fisherman in MN that focuses on largemouth but does river smallies as well.

The newest idea about cold weather activity is dressing in three layers. I wear nylon pantyhose and a wicking shirt "base layer" then merino wool top and bottom "insulation 2nd layer" and a wind proof / water proof nylon outer shell "top layer". Topped off with thinsilate mittens, merino wool socks and a ski stocking hat.
What do include in your layers?

My dad has been wanting to take me hunting, and so far I haven't been interested, although lately I'm thinking of giving it a try. If I wanted to buy a rifle or shotgun in Indiana, what's the leg work requirement?

I hear you can walk in Walmart and buy one and just fill out a questionaire.. is that true? or do I need to get any kind of license before hand?

It's going to be used as a varmint rifle and spare deer rifle for a couple of friends who hunt with me and don't own guns. Also, I need something that would be a good rifle for my niece to start with next year.

I was wondering? I keep several handguns in my home for personal defense. Also several semi auto rifles. Does anyone else believe in keeping weapons in their home for self defense purposes? If so, what type of weapons are they, and would you use them without hesitation if you had to? O, and is it true that liberals are afraid to keep weapons in their home for self defense? Thanks, I look forward to getting answers on this!!

I got a Pumpmaster 760 BB gun for Christmas. I'm 14. Do you think I should be allowed to use it by myself. We have 12 acres of land that I could go out on.
