The only gun that you would shoot an animal with and cause them no harm would be a speed gun.
Tranq guns, if the wrong dosage is used can kill the animal.

There are a couple of different items and brands that are used. A tranquilizer dart gun is effective and brings most animals down unless you have too light of a dose. Too heavy of a dose will stop the animals heart so it can hurt them.
On mid size to small game they now make a gun which fires a net. This really works at close range and can be quite effective. The downside to this would be the chance of breaking an animals legs if it is not done right.
Winchester makes a version of both guns and so does Remington.
There is als a non gun method we have used to trap a flock of turkeys for moving. It was a huge net that was propelled by rockets.

why on earth? oh well okay, look i hunt but i dont like shooting deer anymore because one, its too easy and two, we dont eat um so we still go hunting and take their pics instead. SHoot videos. There is a camera stock that looks like a gun and when you pull the trigger it takes a pic. also paintball. use different colors and compete. fun to see deer walking around wiht your paint color on them. I know game ranchs that tranq for vaccination and for sterilization and they paint ball the ones that have been tranqued to be sure not to overdose...
