What are the type of postitons you can play in track(if know them please get a description about it) what's probably the easiest one?

I'm a dancer and a horseback rider. I constantly hear that neither of them are sports from people at school, friends parents, etc. Are they or aren't they? Why or why not? Aren't they just as much of a sport as soccer, lacrosse, and volleyball? Why are gymnastics in the olympics but not dance? Please answer this!

I am a 20 year old female - slim and in good health, of about average fitness but have never been running properly before.
I want to get into jogging/running - how far is a sensible distance for me to start with? (i want to run a bit everyday). How quickly/at what rate should i try to increase this?

for example nascar. to me its not. to me a sport has to have a ball,stick,or glove. and there has to be physical competition and conditioning for me to call it a sport. am i wrong? is car racing a sport?

how old (age range) are the following so i can get the terminology correct when looking over results and such like.

1. Freshmen?
2. Sophomores?
3. Juniors?
4. Seniors?

I am english and so ive never been truly sure how old a person is at the above times. Please advise

If you have run a marathon or are considering running a marathon - what things can supporters do to make themselves more noticable to you when they are cheering at the side of the road?

I work in running events and we would like to give our runners the best support possible but amongst a crowd of 1000's of people we feel we get drowned out a bit by the crowd and would like to improve.

Any tips from a runners persepective?

Well I'm 16 years old and I've decided to do whatever I couldn't do when I was little because of my obesity which Skating was one of these things.

All my roomates watch is espn sportscenter, not only during the day but at night also, i hear it through the wall. They not only know the name of every current athlete, but high school recruits, commentators, coaches, and past athletes as well. They then get into heated debates about stupid crap (while playing sports games on xbox). Don't get me wrong, i am not antisport, i have played football and rugby but espn has taken the fun out of just sitting down and watching a game. I feel this is how it is with most people i meet and one day i might snap. Anyone else feel the same?
