for example nascar. to me its not. to me a sport has to have a ball,stick,or glove. and there has to be physical competition and conditioning for me to call it a sport. am i wrong? is car racing a sport?

Yes, it's a sport. The drivers require considerable skill. I find it boring, but I'll admit that the drivers have better reflexes and skills I don't have. They are skilled sportsmen.

Unfortunately it is called a sport, but boggles my mind how someone cannot be bored watching a slot car continuously go around in circles for hours...what I consider a sport is Soccor

I agree with you, although car racers have to be in great physical shape also. One aspect that lands it in a sports category is that the racer has an entire team that has to count on oneanother from the pit crew all the way to the constructors. Everything has to be in sync or you wont win.

I suspect that it is more about rare talent and desire to perform as well as to watch. Combine those things and it is a sport!
