...I have been practicing martial arts since I was five and I wanted to try eskrima. Is it effective to defend yourself or others with (also just for the sake of satisfying my inner kid, can eskrima techniques be used with nunchaku)?

well i'm competetive in sparring and i like to practice outside, well i learned you prolly should no do it in a public place (like a park) i was sparring my brother without gear at a park and we do full contact, well he grabbed my leg and tripped me and started kicking me on the ground and a security guard ran over and tackled him (im serious!)

we explained that we were training, and it was pretty embarrasing, lol apparently! im not going to sparr at the park agian unless im wearing gear so people dont think its a real fight.

so do you guys train in public areas?

I cant remember the actual term for this, but it is way for someone to train in the art of a weapon, without needing a sparring partner. But are there any good ones for a bo staff or a jo staff, and which will teach me the basics of wielding one?

Why does being a UFC fan mean for so many that you need to trash talk pro-wrestling? It has nothing in common with MME. It's like insulting ice skating to show your love of Dodge trucks. What does it say about the sport that so many of it's fans spend so much time all over the web comparing the UFC to a stage show (even if it is a violent stage show)? Their only problem seems to be that it is fake (like that's news) but then so is CSI, The X-files and General Hospital. It's just another show. Is this behavior how we wish to present the UFC? Hasn't it already taken enough knocks from reality t.v. that has made it's competetors look like a bunch of trash-talking jack-a**es (all the "drama" on those shows looks more like a soap opera than wrestling sometimes)? Once again, my question is, why all the hate? I have asked a couple of versions of this question in the wrestling section but the UFC guys there don't say much (other than "it's fake" or "it sux")

It confuses me because if you say you have a black belt in karate most people don't take you seriously and say something stupid like "Karate is gay."

Why is it when a fighter (either Boxing or UFC) seems to exhale when he throws a punch (or kick).

I could be wrong they may not be exhaling but they do make a distinct noise before they punch, kick or shoot.

that it depends on the person and thire atributes
okay to some extent that makes sense, but a person training in karate or kung fu vs a muay thai or a bjj practitioner would im sorry to say get batterd

now u can say it depends on the person and thier skill but it is what u get taught also
a karate guy who only knows how to punch and kick will always get there as* kicked against a grapaler

a person who only knows how to attack will get counter punched
people have to become more than 1 dimensional nowadays

thanks hoping for intresting awnsers

I'm thinking it's going on, only cause it's some quick cash for the UFC or perhaps they thought Jardine was going to destroy Alexander. I'm aware of the "Put Up, Or Shut Up" policy of the UFC but Jardine was running his mouth how he deserved a better fight, and then is knocked out before a minute is off the clock, and so he gets to fight the former champion? Doesnt makes sense to me.............

now for all you traditonal martial artists, i dont speak for all but most of you, who do karate or taekwondo or aikido ect
dont you think your art is loosing its touch with mma being around, as now there is a new dimension to fighting which taking ur opponent to the ground
and for all the people who say well ill kick him by the time he gets me in a clinch is totaly wrong

ask ur instructor what he thinks of ground fighting
my instructor teaches karate to kids but he admits the techniques are useless in a fight
he said in a mma fight there stuffed, and he also said to me muay thai is the best stand up hands down

so are people realising times are changing
my kung fu instructor who teaches shuai jiao says that a kung fu guy vs shuai jiao
shuai jiao would win hands down as it is a grapaling art

thanks

Can kicks be done in the same way as the sinawali or hubud? if there is such an alive hand, would there also be an alive foot? Can they also apply destruction of the limb through kicks? How?

It seems to me that Pro Wrestling fans are calling UFC fake. This is confusing, because isn't Pro Wrestling fake? Are they just upset that they have to, as fans, watch what is basically theatre, that is, a play? Wrestling to me has never been worth watching, because of poor storylines, even worse acting, and fake fighting. MMA has no such problems, as it is real. There is no better way to put it. MMA is all real, and Pro Wrestling, for the most part, is fake. I will concede that Pro Wrestlers are generally superb athletes, with extraordinary acrobatic and stunt skills. Most Wrestlers are actual wrestlers, they just dont actually fight. It follows a vague script; you fight him, make it look good, and then you lose. I want to hear from as many of you as possible. I want to know what everyone else thinks about this. I fully expect Pro Wrestling fans to step up.

Note: I know that there are REAL Wrestling leagues featuring actual wrestling. I am not referring to them, obviously.
