I find the accounts of the people above training all the hours they say just amazing - they must be doing nothing else but. I train as often as I can and afford, that equates to three classes a week (4 hours) and an hour on my own at home. With, at long last a full time job, and a TV to watch I am pretty sure that injury would soon follow if I trained more. Hope that puts a more realistic if not human slant on things for you, over doing it, or worse comparing yourself to others can have disastrous consequences. All the best with your journey

Well for Judo I trained 2 1/2 hours a day, 5 days a week.
But now for MMA I train WAY more, but what I do is extreme, but is necessary to stay competetive.
4 to 6 hours a day, 6 days a week (not including conditioning)
But that is hardly necessary as far as being proficient, and there are many people who train much less than me, and do even better than I do. I have to fight against my body type so it requires an excessive amount of training to stay competetive against someone who may be more naturally athletic.
I think the average practitioner probably trains a little over an hour a day, 3 days a week or so. That was pretty much the standard for any of the other Martial Arts I took. Higher ranks are expected to go above and beyond a little bit with training before and after normal class times.

Because i go to class 3 or 4 days a week and than I practice and practice. I make sure that I know the form before I go to class.
And next monday i should get my 1st black stripe. Than I know i will be ready for the test.

I train also an hour a day, 6 times a week. The higher the rank the more dedicated you have to be, but how much will depend on your skill, determination, and how fast you learn.

repetition. work the drills to perfect the techniques.i have been involved in the martial arts for a very long time .higher the grade the more you have to train to hone the skills ,preferably with someone more experienced or skillfull than yourself. sorry back to the original point ,in the beginning 4hours per night 4 nights per week with every other weekend in competitions for approx 12 years ,then loads of seminars ,workshops every other weekend for approx the next 7years .less frequent now but still do 6-10 seminars per annum, plus regular training1-2 sessions per week 2-3 hours each.good luck

I wish I had time to train that much. I train two or three times per week for 1 hour although I try to practise my Kata whenever I get a few minutes (especially when a grading is coming up).
