although presley trained with ed parker and had a lot to do with him in his later years the man who taught presley was one mike stone. but what really cracks me up are the claims that presley held an advanced dan grade (6th dan i think)-if this is the case then i am a dutchman!!. to acheive such status takes a lifetime of dedication-presley took up karate in the mid 60's as we all know he was dead by 1977-he would have made 2nd dan at a push-and a poor one at that. having watched some of his "karate moves" on stage i think it's quite comical. such a wonderful singer that he was presley's "dan status" was bestowed upon him by sycophants who's only motive was to engratiate themselves with the star he was no more a master than i am a brain surgeon. i know senior karate dans who refuse to watch presley's stage antics as they consider it an insult. and who can blame them?

Elvis was supposed to be very good. Ed parker did not hand out blackbelts to just anyone.Ed parker said that elvis worked extremely hard and was a very good martial artist.
