i say it sucks bcos many ppl think its the best grappling submission technique ever.bjj is something that u can use only in the tournament..competition ect..but in street fight it is useless...
ure putting an opponent a bjj lock while his friend stomping at you....
however i dunno if bjj teach striking tech bcos the whole country i living in didnt even know what is bjj...

I was rather appalled after witnessing what I believe to be what shouldn't be after observing a TaeKwonDo class in progress taking place at the local YMCA. I've never seen such a blatent watered-down excuse for a martial arts class in my life. I've seen six-year old yellow belts who demonstrate better technique than some of these so called black belts. ( Instructor included) I seriously hope that this is just an anomaly of sorts in regards to the particular orginazation with which this class is affiliated. I keep coming across the term "Mcdojo" I think this class probabaly isn't worthy even to be esteemed on that level. It's wrong! Just wrong, I tell you.

and harder? I want to at least punch 1 1/2 x as hard as I do now so I can take on guys that are twice as strong as me, punch twice as hard and know how to fight quite better than me (they have a bit of martial arts and street fighting. Also they are quicker than me and I'm quick) It is for sparing and one of their punches or kicks can hurt me pretty bad, even if I block and trying to get them into arm and headlocks don't work because they are too strong-
I currently workout for strength and toughen up my knuckles by punching wood and metal, I am strong for my size (160 Lb lean) and been strength/fighting training for a few years (so have they, but its a physical speed/power advantage and I know almost as much skills as them

In your standard size WWF wrestling ring could the techniques of Aikido, administered by a high ranking sensi, be able to neutralize the attacks of an enraged polar bear?

I wouldn't presume that any of the grapling/locking holds would be of any use against the polar bear's strength or anatomy. I'm interested in knowing if the techniques that help to evade attacks and redirect physical momentum would be applicable in any situation that demonstrates the nature of a physical attack from any source.

For those wanting to know to "what end" would this fight continue, let's say either until the polar bear became tired or bored; at which case both parties would be returned to their natural environment.

I picked a wrestling ring only as an example of a place where there would be no natural terrain to be used to an advantage (e.g. trees to hide behind; rocks to throw...).

If you choose to literally factor in a caged wrestling ring, the cage itself nor the ropes can be used.

I absolutely love it, though I hate Dana White 'cause he is a ******** on the Ultimate Fighter. If I had not moved to the damn woods with no one to teach me martial arts, and continued with my Shaolin training, I would totally have tried to go to Randy Couture's camp to learn MMA and then into small venues, and hopefully the UFC.

First: Do you love the UFC? Second: You think 18 is too young to start MMA?

my instructor says that taekwondo's blocking is not apropiate as it only matches strenghth with stregnth, and if the oppnent is stronger than it will hurt, he uses aikido and win chung in his style, as he says that taekwondo you see is quite boring as they do kickd and punches
is this the right method and we do itf tkd

Im not sure of the restrictions placed on nunchakus. It seems that online stores cannot ship a pair of nunchakus to a NY address, but what if the nunchakus are already in the city? I know that foreign pets are not allowed in the states, but if they are born here they can stay. Does the same rule apply to nunchakus? I dot think I will ever understand why they are outlawed in the first place. I can buy as many swords, knives and guns as I want online, but i am completely forbidden to buy a pair of nunchakus, a tool that is very important in the Martial Arts community.

I'm a fencer (so I doubt I'll get sport-specific advice on Y!Answers) with great attacks and poor defense, and I can win bouts without defense. Should I spend my training time filling in the defensive hole in my game, or should I be making my attacks the best around?

To make an analogy to another sport, if a linebacker were the best pass rusher and run stopper, but a poor coverage guy, should he work on coverage or work on his strengths and let someone else worry about coverage?

I studied karate for a short time, and I always heard that if you're a black belt, you have to register with the police, and if someone picks a fight, you have to tell them you're a black belt. Are these true ?
