Im not sure of the restrictions placed on nunchakus. It seems that online stores cannot ship a pair of nunchakus to a NY address, but what if the nunchakus are already in the city? I know that foreign pets are not allowed in the states, but if they are born here they can stay. Does the same rule apply to nunchakus? I dot think I will ever understand why they are outlawed in the first place. I can buy as many swords, knives and guns as I want online, but i am completely forbidden to buy a pair of nunchakus, a tool that is very important in the Martial Arts community.

Nunchakus are illegal in NY. They've been illegal ever since the days of Bruce Lee when everybody and their brother thought they were a Kung Fu master because they watched a few movies and had some Nunchucks!

well nunchakas can't be born in NYC like a pet and i am sure if they are illegal in NYC it is also legal to manufacture them. And if you are caught with them you will probably go to Jail. You see once upon a time in the city someone used thm for doing bad deeds thats why they are outlawed and I am pretty sure the law doesn't care about something you deem important to the martial arts community. Crack is important to the crack community and it is illegal. Prostitution is important for some people and it is illegal. and as stated before they are not as important to the martial arts community as you might think. yeah it is cool to learn how to use them but the main purpose of Martial arts is to learn to defend yopurself and are you going to walk around with a pair of nunchakus are you? you do that you might get arrested in any city or state you go for carrying a weapon.

Check with your martial arts school or a local martial arts supply store in the yellow pages. Most martial arts weapons are illegal to carry in all 50 states. You can have them on private property but you can only carry them to or from a legitimate martial arts school/class or demonstration/tournament.

They were outlawed because they are concealable weapons, and versions without chains can pass thru metal detectors.
