It just occured to me that they have the same job with their respective teams. Also, who did their job more effectively? I remember Barnaby being just a pest, but Avery has a method to his madness. Your thoughts?

Rumor has it that the Ducks will put him on waivers and they have recalled Hiller from the minors. Bryz is in the last year of his contract and will be a UFA at the end of the season. Any guesses?

Yes, Jean Béliveau, is my favorite player of all times. Never got to see him play live, but have seen him on tape, and as stated before, I have read a lot about him.

1.) How was Béliveau forced to play for the Habs?

2.) How much was his salary when he signed with the Canadians?

3.) When Jean played for the Quebec Aces, he was called up for two games. Did he score?

4.) What was another sport Jean Béliveau excelled at growing up?

5.) The Jean Béliveau Trophy is given to what players?

These days I mostly play LW in league games although I'm trying to still learn all the positions in scrimmages and practice.

I think I have the basic idea of cycling down - each player moves the puck and themselves from one forward offensive position to the next, which keeps their D guessing - and I know that as far as the other wing and my center goes, I'm supposed to maintain a certain amount of distance between us, depending on situation.

And that usually that winds up being a triangle with one point in front of the net. Give or take, and obviously that changes with who's got the puck where and what I need to do to support them.

Can you all explain offensive strategy in terms of the triangle and cycling to me a little better?

Suppose you had to draft a professional athlete that DOES NOT play for the National Hockey League, to play for a NHL team.
What player would you pick?

I’d probably pick Brett Farve, because he is 222 pounds, he is 6'2", and he knows how to shake off a concussion.

With all the differing opinions from the recent expansion of the NHL from the 90's on, I am curious to how expansion of earlier times, starting with 1967 was viewed. I wasn't alive then. I am just curious if it ruffled feathers with "non-traditional" markets such as Oakland and LA, as it does now.

The Avs play Dallas tonight, their coach Dave Tippett is apparently about to be fired if he can't turn around the Stars' slide. Among the candidates mentioned for his replacement is Avs' assistant coach, Tony Granato. What will happen with Tony G's contract? He probably can't just say "see ya later" to the Avs...Will the Stars have to buy out his contract, and pay the Avs some money?

(Don't let the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre logo throw ya)

This question came to me while I was constructing yet another sports related spreadsheet. I was making a list of all the players to have played for the Flyers when I noticed this tidbit.

Here's the question:

Of all the goaltenders that have played for the Flyers, what is the one thing they have in common?

This is kinda tricky and it isn't simply that they played for the same team. So I'll give one hint. The answer has something to do with how long they played for the Flyers. Be careful, the answer isn't obvious. I'll leave this up through the weekend, and feel free to ask questions as I'll monitor the activity when possible.

You can go to wikipedia and use the same data source that I did to look for the answer.

Remove the parenthesis before you go here: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Philadelphia_Flyers_players)

It was a good night for everyone's favorite... Poster Boy... Whiner... Next One... Diver... Kid... Bing... Overrated... Overhyped... Crybaby...

Sidney Crosby reached 250 points tonight by setting up the game-winning goal against the Islanders (again, with the milestones and successful nights against the Islanders...) and he's 20-years-old.

He also extended his point streak to 18 games, which leads the league.

I think he's 2nd in the scoring race, with 28 points. (Not sure about him being in 2nd, but I know Lecavalier's ahead of him with 29 points.)

My defense is not that great. I play in a 4 dman league and my top 2 are good...pronger and rafalski, but after that i have Liles and Hainsey. For centers i have Spezza, Sakic, Getzlaf (playing utility) and Langkow on the bench. I'm thinking Spezza it worth a little more than Phaneuf, but i have some decent centers should i lose him and get a pretty good defenseman. Thoughts?

Forgot to add, he also has Mike Richards, so would adding maybe Liles and Spezza for Phaneuf and Richards look like a better trade (ie. would you make that trade)??
