I looked through tickets west for a couple of tickets to the Vancouver Canucks game on Jan. 3rd but came up with zero results. Ive never been to an NHL game before so does this mean the game is sold out or something or do tickets not go on sale until later? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Sidney uttered a word out of his mouth and the NHL was at his feet all ears. (ok, now I sound WAY TOO MUCH like Jude) But anyway, The NHL is apparently switching the new unis to a half old, half new style, with the front being the old fabric and the back being the new. Sounds like their slowly trying to admit their mistake...

I've always been interested in hockey, and being from Detroit I'm of course a Wings fan. however, I never really had time to watch the Wings much, but now I've got a bit more time on my hands. So who wants to give me a crash course on the Wings? I know most of the past stuff, I know Yzerman and Shanahan are gone. I more want to know whats going on this season. Whats their win loss record this season.? What players are good? etc. Thanks

Recently I learned that there are less than 50 (I hate when news outlets come up with a benign approximate like that...how about a specific, say 47?) World War One veterans living in the U.S. What does this have to do with hockey, you ask? I would love to know who the oldest living ex-NHL is...

A bit of a fun departure from the usual fare. For our friends to the North, I already know you're celebrated Thanksgiving (but do you celebrate the U.S. version at all), but nevertheless, how will everyone spend their Turkey Day? Better yet, what are you thankful for, in terms of what the NHL has provided over the years?

What do I mean by the above question? There have been bad teams in the NHL that have just stunk (the Oakland/California Seals teams of the late 1960s/early 1970s and the 1974-75 Washington Capitals quickly come to mind), but there are those who were terrible, but somehow made the playoffs and beyond. Which of the so-called worst teams was the best of the worst in league history?

While some aspects of hockey are painfully obvious (Wayne Gretzky is the greatest player, Sam Pollock was the most shrewed general manager, the Detroit Red Wingsl play in the Joe Louis Arena, etc.), there are nuggets of information that are not only correct, but just seem unusual. Which of these facts stands out as the most bizarre?

...these five hockey events occured?

1. When the men's United States Olympic team won gold in 1980 (Miracle On Ice)?

2. When your favorite team won the Stanley Cup?

3. When news broke that the NHL was suspending operations for 2004-05?

4. When your favorite player accomplished an outstanding milestone? (What was said milestone?)

5. When Wayne Gretzky played his last NHL game?

There are innovators and imitators in life. The innovators are the people who forever changed how something is performed or viewed by future generations. The imitators are the benifactors of the hard work by innovators. The innovators are often copied, but never outdone (either by the effort of the imitators or their place in history). Who are these people who have influenced future players, coaches, builders, broadcasters, etc. in NHL history?

Going through hockey history books, one could tell players such as Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Bobby Orr (among others) were virtual locks to garner 100 points due to their out-of-this-world skill sets. However, those same tomes of history are populated by players who surprised the experts, fans, and observers by scoring the century mark in a season. The basic premise of the question is this: which player in league history was the biggest surprise in terms on scoring 100 points?

I recall he sailed for Canada in a Laser, and played defense when it came to hockey. I don't know if it ever actually got called up, but I know he belonged to Habs orginization.
