- I'm thankful for 66 years of hockey......
- I'm thankful I had the opportunity to be in the NHL
- I'm thankful that the NHL has provided for my family and I for almost 40+ (almost 50) years
- I'm thankful that I can laugh with all my Red Wing buddies on this forum because MY team has clinched at least a tie in the season series
- I'm thankful for most of Snoop's questions because they make people think
I'll be a lot more thankful when
- people stop asking who will win the Stanley Cup
- people stop asking why such and such a team wears such and such a colour (In 2004-2005 nobody wore any colour - be thankful there's hockey)
- people stop asking who is better Crosby or Ovechkin, all 30 NHL GMs pick Crosby...deal with it
- The Chicago Black Hawks (the team with a logo NOT done by a 3 yr old) win the Stanley Cup, preferable in their red uniforms, defeating a team, led by either Crosby or Ovechkin

Many First Nations people in Canada celebrate the U.S. Thanksgiving - including my family. However, living in Canada, we don't have a statutory holiday (day off work)....only on the Canadian holiday. Will likely be having turkey on Thursday and go and do some crazy shopping on Friday.
What I am currently thankful for:
- my satelittle provider just added the NHL Centre Ice to there line up this season - so now I can watch much more games on TV than ever before! I get to watch my 2nd favourite team, the San Jose Sharks!
- I am thankful that Sundin, Raycroft and Toskala are all healthy;
- I am thankful that Ted Nolan and the NY Islanders are doing half decent in the season (so far)!
- I am thankful that my team has shown that they can still beat the Ottawa Senators!!!
Thankfulness for NHL over the years:
- I am thankful that there is an NHL....
- I am thankful that there are aboriginal/native american players in the NHL (some of whom have hoisted the Cup!).

I am thankful for the fact that the Red Wings have put out great teams year in and year out ever since I can remember, (I can barely remember the early 90's as in before about 94)oh, and the three Stanley Cups were nice, I kind of feel bad for the fans that have never, or will never experience that feeling.
I am also thankful that the central division is no longer a playground of easy points for the Wings, the Columbus game tonight was one of the best I have seen in a long time. I really enjoy watching all the teams in the central, and would love for all five teams to make the playoffs, especially Chicago.

I'm thankful Nabby has taken on the #1 goalie job, that Setoguchi has picked up where Cheech has left off, and that the Sharks have the 2nd best record in the West.
I'm thankful the NHL is in full gear with plenty of awesome rookies this year in Kane, Toews, Setoguchi, and Price.
Congrats to Brodeur for 500 wins.
Congrats to Modano and Roenick for 500 goals.
And thankful for Y/A hockey section for having great people and posters to make up for the dimwits that like to come here whether intentional or not, to ruin a good thing.

I'm thankful for the fact that there will be FIVE living generations on Downeys watching the Blackhawks on television (finally) this weekend for the first time. My great-grandfather is still spry at 83, while my grandfather is 63, my dad is 45, my brother is 24, my sister is 21, and my nephews are 5 and 4. They are all Blackhawks fans!

I will spend my Thanksgiving with my boyfriend's family, which is great, because I have no family within 2500 miles of Florida.
As for the NHL:
>>>I am thankful that the lockout is over.
>>>I am thankful there is a team in Tampa
>>>I am thankful there is a sport that I enjoy
>>>I am thankful my father promised never to try to talk hockey with me again (He said Gordie Howe played for the Black Hawks when he was a teenager). He likes college football. Geez.

Cramming 15 people into my grandmothers dining room and avoiding eye contact with my mother so we don't crack up when she brings out the four canned sweet potatos she's apparently had in the oven since last Thanksgiving.
As far as hockey, I'm thankful that even though my fellas lost to Ottawa this week it wasn't horrendous, that they kicked the crapola out of Montreal, and that I get to watch games on MSG instead of Vs. Amen.

I'm thankful that I can actually watch the games this year, instead of having to wait and read about them later. And I'm thankful for the fun and entertainment the NHL has provided over the years!

I'm thankful that after driving nine hours I'll be able to be with my family...and it won't matter one iota what's being served for dinner.
I'm thankful that with the current technology I can watch a hockey game being broadcast from anywhere in North America on any day of the week.
I'm thankful for the game itself and the distraction it provides from the everyday world. I'm thankful for the players, love 'em or hate 'em, and The Code.
