The NHLPA controls the ballot for the All-Star game, and in this case, the ballot was selected in part by Trevor Linden to avoid the Rory Fitzpatrick issue.

why would you, it (like fitzpatrick) is pointless, just adds a mediocre guy to a skilled all star game
