...these five hockey events occured?

1. When the men's United States Olympic team won gold in 1980 (Miracle On Ice)?

2. When your favorite team won the Stanley Cup?

3. When news broke that the NHL was suspending operations for 2004-05?

4. When your favorite player accomplished an outstanding milestone? (What was said milestone?)

5. When Wayne Gretzky played his last NHL game?

TBL- Don't feel bad. I wasn't born yet when the Miracle occurred either (although I was a few months away from making my life debut). You had to been alive in 1999 when #99 played his final game...

1) I was a student in the radio broadcasting program at Mohawk College and the moment means little to me as a Canadian.
2) I was sleeping (i was 6) and my Dad got me up to see them get the Cup.
3) I was working and the boss came in and told us. Real drag, he had promised me a pair of tickets for 5 games that season. I left the job for my present one before the next season started. No more freebies.
4) At the time Sittler and Salming were my favorite players. I decided not to go out with my friends that night (they were going to a movie) and so I stayed home and witnessed the single greatest game in NHL history. Sittler scores 10 points. Total fluke.
5) I stayed at home again to watch the game. It was a very sad night.

1. Wasn't born yet. (Don't make fun of me!)

2. Outside the forum on the plaza. Just amzaing when they won. And I almost didn't go because the forecast for the night was rain.

3. I remember being in a local sports bar, and the news coming across SportsCenter. I honestly didn't know what to expect.

4. Vinny scoring 52 goals last year (a team record) I saw number 50 on TV. It may have been the most lucky goal he has ever scored. He pulls a spin move and backhands it from the top circle. It slips under Cam Wards pads and into the net.

5. Again, wasn't alive

EDIT - O. I guess I was alive when Gretzky played his last game. But I was both too young and not really into hockey at that time.

1. I was about 3 years old at the time, so I don't remember.
2. At home, then came outside to to high-five my neighbors, then drove to the Forum, to party. I would have loved to be there, but tickets sold-out in a split second.
3. I was at work, slacking off on the Internet. It was on the home page on the NHL website. Man, that was a long year.
4. This one is hard because I have so many fav. players....I'll say Vinny Lecavalier's 50th goal was pretty good.
5. I was in a statics class in college (I worked in the day, and went to school at night). I couldn't watch much hockey then.

1. I was 2 years old, so I'm guessing I was probably in bed, or playing with some smurfs or something.

2. Sadly, they have not won yet =)

3. I was in the car, I heard it on the radio. I was so bummed because I had just started getting into hockey, and was really looking forward to going to a few games.

4. Danny Briere was my favorite Sabre from my first game in 2003, until he left. When he got his first hat trick, I was home pregnant and not feeling well on the couch, listening to the game on WGR =) I watched the highlights on the news.

5. Unfortunately, I wasn't a hockey fan then. But I was probably just hanging out at home that night.

1. At work & missed the game.

2. The Sharks haven't won it yet.

3. Watching ESPN at home. Made me sick when I heard it.

4. That's a tough one. I've had many favorite players. I would have to say the most recent would be Joe Thornton winning MVP.

1- I was one year old, can't remember.

2- I wasn't born yet (Black Hawks fan).

3- Thinking, wow these morons are going to kill the NHL.

4- Watching the Stars win the cup with Eddie "The Eagle" Belfour.

5- Probably watching a Hawks game, I always will say what Super Mario did, playing hockey with greatness and with cancer was more impressive than what the Great One did.
