It was a good night for everyone's favorite... Poster Boy... Whiner... Next One... Diver... Kid... Bing... Overrated... Overhyped... Crybaby...

Sidney Crosby reached 250 points tonight by setting up the game-winning goal against the Islanders (again, with the milestones and successful nights against the Islanders...) and he's 20-years-old.

He also extended his point streak to 18 games, which leads the league.

I think he's 2nd in the scoring race, with 28 points. (Not sure about him being in 2nd, but I know Lecavalier's ahead of him with 29 points.)

lost_in_a_dream... - While I appreciate your enthusiasm, let's not get carried away. LOL.
LUBERS & 2EIGHTY8 - Well, CHRIS would say it's Gary Roberts' age. It could be applicable for a lot of Pittsburgh-related milestones though. For instance: the # of rebounds Fleury has kicked out this season, the # of Hooking penalties Gonchar has taken, the # of Too Many Men On The Ice penalties the Penguins have had between this season and last season... The list goes on. Lol.

CYRENAICA - Alright, you beat LITY. And I think I'm going to refer to you as "The Statmaster" from now on. Lol. Anyway, thanks a bunch! :)

LITY - Aw, again with the Canadian edge... I need to listen to Canadian radio stations more often. Lol.
SNOOP - Hey, you reminded me... I forgot to mention that LEMIEUX & JAGR never had a longer concurrent point streak than 11 games. Hmm.

2007-11-15 16:13:16 · update #3

MIKE - SORRY, I should have mentioned Malkin somewhere there. Concurrent = existing simultaneously.

Malkin extended his point streak to 12 games. He and Crosby are "concurrently" on a 12-game point streak. That's longer than Lemieux and Jagr's longest concurrent point streak was 11 games.

My apologies, my Russian snowball.

LOL. J/k, j/k. I'm just McCrazy tonight.

With most players his age I would say yes. Sidney Crosby however is a once in a generation type player who can handle the responsibilities of being the captain. By his fame he already was the primary representative of the Penguins to the public. Plus he has help from some of his veteran teammates (Gary Roberts, Mike Recchi) for the locker room stuff. I think Crosby can handle wearing the C and still thrive.

Erica; what do you mean by "concurrent" point streak? Lemieux had a 46 game point streak once.

~

Oh really? No way!?! Malkin's on a 12 game point streak? I honestly had no idea! I could've sworn he didn't have a single point against the Avs. Wow, I seriously did NOT know that. And I know what concurrent means, I did not know what YOU meant by it. Of course even if I did not know the meaning of the word I always have a great excuse; I'm Russian, lmao.

*horrible Russian accent*

"Excuse me miss, I no can speak English good on this today, maybe after"

^^^^^^^^^^^

(what I sounded like when I first moved here)

~~

288: In Russian it would sound like this; "Ya ishu yadernuyu lodku"

Erica, they were talking about this on a radio station here in Toronto.......and Gretzky hit 300 points at a younger age than Sidney will hit 250, and even if you add in the 13.1% scoring differential between 1980-81 and this year, Gretzky still did it at a faster rate.

Cyrenaica will know, but he's probably sleeping now. Unlike the rest of us...he has to work for a living!

Not if you count the WHA. Gretzky had 247 points before the start of the 80-81 season and he didn't turn 20 until 1-26-81. I'm pretty sure he acquired 3 points before that.

I don't know Erica, but he might be the youngest player to have 250 fans outside of Pittsburgh. Especially toward the east. ;) (jk, jk)

Crosby would have to be, by far. "Wayne Gretzky" wasn't WAYNE GRETZKY until he was 21 (and by that time, the seeds were sewn). It wasn't Mario, who by the time he was 20 was still getting his feet wet. By the way, Crosby is definitely second, as Zetterberg was held pointless last night by the Blues (who may play in the toughest division in the NHL...all five teams are over .500).

Unrelated note: Someone asked me if Sidney Crosby was the grandson of Bing "White Christmas" Crosby. I laughed like Jack Nicholson in "The Shining"!

I thought the 250 was for how old Pittsburgh is.*

*This is just filler until LITY responds.

*sighs* Can I not steal two points from you? Do you think it's my job in life to entertain you? Is that it? Fine....it's how many times Crosby thought about Lusty Tlusty a day. ZING!!!!!!!!!! OH!! BURRRRRNNN!!!! Happy now, my dear? lol

...or filler until cyrenaica responds.

Mike! Say that you're looking for a nuclear vessel!!

No...dude...that's a Star Trek...never mind. You're too young for that movie. lol

So that's what the patches on the Pen's shoulders stand for, they knew he was going to hit that milestone this year. Presumably they will change the patches to 300 for their next game.

Snoop: Actually, Bing is his great grandfather.

It's about time they won a damn game! As for an answer to your question: (annoying theme) Na-Na Na-Na NA -NAH! Pittsburgh will win the Stanley Cup this year, so get used to it!
