Highest paid player in the NHL: Jaromir Jagr at $8,360,00

Highest in the NFL: Peyton Manning $14,000,000

Highest MLB: A-Rod $25,000,000

So as compared to other proffesional sports leagues, no.

NHL? Yeah. If you compare a professional hockey player to the average American, even the lowest paid will be rich. If you compare someone in the NHL to someone in the NFL or MLB, then no. Baseball players get paid far too much. An average superstar in the NHL will make about 7 million a year.

Yup. But not as big as other sports. Which, is if you ask me, why it is the best sport. Least paid, and there not complaining.

Proof: Tony Romo just signed a 6 yr/$67.5 million contract, and hes one of the best QB right?

Miika Kiprusoff just signed a 6 yr/$35.7 (something like that) million contract, and he is one of the best G in the league...

Not compared to other sports like baseball, where apparently you can play well in the regular season and be worthless in the post season and still sign 10 year contracts worth over 200 million dollars.

Not if they play for the Bruins! Harry Sinden was a cheap GM and Jacobs is a cheap owner. They should have given Nylander the big $$$, but they rather be well under the salary cap, and not use it for a rainy day.

Depends on what you consider bob bucks, what league you're playing in, etc

NHL
minimum salary is $475MM for 2007-2008
maximum salary is 20% of the your team's salary cap ($10,060,000.00 for 2006-07)

AHL
players on a 2-way NHL contract (~100,000 for 2007-08)
players on an AHL contract (no maximum at team's discretion)
AHL minimum is $24,500

Other leagues offer less.
