I've been waiting forever, and it hasn't happened yet.

I'm afraid to pick a new team.. because if I do.. then I'll latch on to them.. then the Whalers will come back, and I'm not one to have "TWO FAVS". That's stupid.

Norway is next to Finland and Sweden, both very good hockey countries, so why isn't Norway good at hockey? Is hockey popular over there, but they just have no talent? (kind of like U.S. with soccer lol) Or is hockey just not popular at all, so no one really plays it? I've always wondered this and yesterday's "all time country teams" question reminded me of it.

...go back to smaller goaltending equipment?

I don't see many goalies getting injured from lack of padding. (i.e. the modern HUGE padding seems to have little to do with protection and more to do with making it easier to make saves)

Doesn't that make more sense than going to bigger nets? What do you think?

While everyone here is almost in agreement with who is the greatest NHL player (and depending on what generation you're from, that player is either from Brantford, Ontario or Melville, Sascatchewan), here is another debate-starter: who is the best of the brightest in terms of top Canadian junior?

I know I have heard of quite a few players coming from the Peterborough Petes, has any other team developed better players than them? What are some other teams that have developed a lot of NHL players?

This is really not trivia, I really don't know this. Has any Stanley Cup winning team, won all of the major trophies for the NHL? Like the:
Art Ross
Calder Memorial Trophy
Conn Smythe Trophy
Frank J. Selke Trophy
Hart Memorial Trophy
Jack Adams Award
James Norris Memorial Trophy
Vezina Trophy
&
Lady Byng Memorial Trophy

All won by the same team. I know some of these awards have not been around super long. If it has never been done, do you know what team might be the closest to doing so? Thanks guys.

I was reading an article about Kari Lehtonen. In that article the writer stated that he couldn't be sent to the minors because he would never clear waivers.

Hard to argue Paul Holmgren with the quick re-build he did. Locked up Coburn for a couple of years yesterday is another nice move.

Just wow.

- Okay, what's the real reason behind this... is it because of the strain between the NHL and the Russian Hockey Federation?
- Or is it really because of the strain it would be on the players, schedule, and fans?
- What would the Olympics be without some of the players in the NHL?
- How do those players feel about possibly not playing for their country's national team in something as celebrated and honorable as the Olympics??
- Have I exceeded my question limit in one question?
(My apologies for that!)

I can't imagine Ovechkin or Malkin not playing for their country, especially not while it hosts the Olympics. They're players that are very important to the national team.

Now that Havlat is back, scoring two goals last night, along with guys like Kane,Toews,Ruutu,Lang, and Sharp .How far can they make it in the playoffs? They are currently sitting 5th in Western conference now.Only Detroit,San Jose,Colorado have consistent teams,so there should be a good shot for the Hawks.
