I am beginning to fall out of love with hockey. I llike the sport and play whenever I can but as a parent of a 11 year old playing peewee hockey I am beginning to care less if my son wants to quit.

He is also involved in soccer where the emphasis is on fun and it is an utterly enjoyable experience.

But the seriousness of hockey is taking the fun completely out of it for me. It is way too bureaucratic, costs way too much money (those parents at the AAA novice game probably spent $5K or more for the year with 10% or more on frivilous team paraphenelia), it too tied to the ego of those involved, and has very little emphasis on sportsmanship.

When I played growing up, jerseys were shared, the 20 people who watched came in for free, and you only got a team jacket if you won something.

I think that as a country, we really got to take a deep breath and let kids play and have fun because I think there are other activities that will develop our children more effectively.

Chicago 5
Tampa Bay 1

And was that tampa goal not a lucky goal?

So, my question (aside from "Where's Haley?") is

Who was the winner between Chicago and Tampa?

Look at http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2007/11/28/nhl_2014_olympics_bettman/

Now that is absolutely priposterous. Cmmon Gary, he says that it is not efficient to cut the schedules 2 weeks every 4 years! He thinks the players don't want to represent their country. It is 2 weeks out of every 4 years. The NHL can't deal with that. There is not enough words in the world to explain how furious I am with this bonehead thought.

This is a debate I am having, and couldnt find an answer in the NHL rules

In a shoot out, if a goalie goes to poke check the puck, touches it but the player is still able to keep posession and scores, is it a goal?

Either: No, because the goalie touched it

Or: Yes, becase the player kept posession

The Sabres are probably going to (if they haven't already) cut ties with the Amerks. What would happen to players that have recently been called up to play for Buffalo, but are only there to fill an injury spot? Would those players from Rochester have to go back if the Sabres didn't plan on keeping them for the whole season? And if the organizations do sever ties, where will Buffalo get players from in the interim of finding a new AHL team to affiliate with?

Boy, I hope that makes sense, I know what I'm trying to say, but I feel like it came out as a big blob of words.

I am currently attending a prep school in CT I am a freshmen goalie there are 4 other freshman goalies. They have 2 JV teams and today i got put on the lower one when i and some others really feel I should be on the higher 1. I've been really upset about it I really feel like I was easily better then 1 of the other freshman goalies that is one the higher JV team. I am about even with the other one. It's not like I didn't do well for the tryouts I played really well but not my absolute best. What should I do it has been my goal to make the higher team for almost a year since I knew that I was coming to this school. How could the coaches not see that I belong on the higher team? I would be kind of nervous about talking to the coach I really want to play college hockey and that means I need to be the varsity started when I am a starter.

Ive watched nhl hockey for about 12 years so I've seen many things change over time, but around 1998-2000 it seemed every goal was reviewed for somebodies foot being in the crease. That's when they were changing the crease size every year. Suddenly over the past years it has stopped and I've seen no reviewed goals for this even though it still happens all the time. I watch every Red Wing hockey game and HNIC and this rule has just seemed to disappear and there is never any mention of it like it never happened. BUT IT DID! so what happened? Is this another GB flop?

Critics of the NHL divisional style schedule have been complaining since it was implemented. I've read about it quite a lot in the past couple of years... about the NHL expanding to an 84 game schedule in order to have 6 games against division opponents, 3 games against conference opponents, and a home and home in intra-conference games.

Part of me thinks its a good idea as long as they remove a pre-season game or two, but I think the players may be against 2 extra games.

Also, in the 1993-94 season, didn't the NHL have an 84 game schedule? How come none of these main stream writers and critics of the idea are mentioning this?

ESPN.com just put up an article pushing for this 84 game schedule also.

A while back Teppo Numminen had open heart surgery and was given a pretty fair chance of rehabbing and playing again if he decided to. The Sabres could sure use him on the ice and as a leader in the locker room. I've heard a while ago that he was skating but has anyone heard anything more about his progress?

I love all sports. I even watch Women's college softball. I can't stand hockey. Based on the ratings, I'm not the only one. I can't think of anything the NHL could do to earn me as a viewer. Maybe increasing the size of the ice to Olympic size rinks? It would speed up the game. Any thoughts? Hockey fans or not.

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to lose tonight to the Lightning [a team of superior talent ;)]. Since, all of you Chicagoans will be crying in you beer, I have compiled some Blackhawk questions to help your ego. Lol.

1.) What player had the nickname “Dipsy-Doodle Dandy from Delisle”?

2.) On January 28, 1943, the Blackhawks beat what team 10-1?

3.) Chicago played their 1st season in what arena?

4.) In 1952, what player scored 3 goals in 21 seconds?

5.) What was the last Chicago goaltender NOT to share the Vezina Trophy?

6.) In 1986, this Chicago player was towel whipped by Patrick Swayze in a movie called Youngbloods.

Have a great day everyone, and hopefully, I will not have my tail between my legs tomorrow.

I was encouraged when scoring went up after the lockout, but I see that the average goals per game is again down. I'm not saying the game has to go back to the freewheeling early '80s, but I don't find it very exciting when four goalies have sub-2 GAAs, and no team averages more than 3.5 goals per game.

Will we see a return at some point to true, offensive hockey?

Yes I am a flyers fan but what is up with all the suspensions? Players used to pick their teeth up off the floor and hand them to the bench and keep playing. Is this going the NFL route where you cant touch the QB or now you have to watch how you tackle. This is total BS let them play the game.
