I love all sports. I even watch Women's college softball. I can't stand hockey. Based on the ratings, I'm not the only one. I can't think of anything the NHL could do to earn me as a viewer. Maybe increasing the size of the ice to Olympic size rinks? It would speed up the game. Any thoughts? Hockey fans or not.

Last year during the NHL Playoffs, The Spike network wasn't able to clock enough viewers to make it on the Neilson's top ten list. HGTV's rerun of "Trading Spaces" clocked more viewers. More power to all remaining fans. (I was a hockey fan until the lock-out). Don't any of you have idea's for revamping the sport?

I fully agree with Craig S, and while I may not commit suicide, I would much rather hump a dead moose than watch women's college softball. I honestly did not even know that women's college softball existed. Are there really people who watch that? What could possibly be interesting about it? Hockey is fine the way it is right now, if you don't like it, oh well, keep watching your college softball.

The Spike network does not broadcast NHL games. It's funny how you have these numbers and figures, yet the channel has never shown an NHL game in its existence.

Wow, dude, you truly are a sports fan by the definition if you can stand to watch women's college softball....no, wait a second! You don't watch it for the game at all!! lol

You don't have to be a fan of the NHL to be interested in hockey. I think I'm more of a fan of international hockey than the NHL. Every holiday season, the World Juniors and Spengler Cup takes precedent over NHL games. If they were to be put side by side, I'll more excited about the World Juniors, Championships, and Olympics (either sex) than the Stanely Cup Finals. After 2010 in Vancouver, I will have three mortgages to pay off and I'm not planing on owning a house! But if Canada wins gold while I'm there in the stands, it'll be well worth it!!

Well since I have been a fan since I can remember I may be a bit biased. This whole 'new' NHL that is there is not real hockey. The version you see on the tele now, is diluted rubbish compared to what it used to be. Believe it or not hard hits,(not damn near lethal ones like the fines are for now),high scoring, and a faster game used to be in place. The rules were geared to an open,FAST(because there were far fewer stoppages of play for asinine rules),and high scoring affair. Now these rules are way out of hand and I could go on but why bother?

The NHL needs a revamp in the worst way.
If I were to tell you to watch hockey so you could get into it(you even admittedly said yourself you cannot get into it) that is really the only way I could see becoming a fan. That is the problem. No one whats to see this watered down version of hockey.

That is how the majority(if not all) of the fans that are huge fans now, initially got into the NHL in the first place, by watching.

Hm, I would with agree you to change the size of the rink to that of Olympic size as that is how most countries except for Canada and the United States play hockey. I would also have the clock go up just like they do in the Olympics. But otherwise I like the rule changes they put in effect before the 2005-06 NHL season as it really did speed up the game a lot and I am now interested in hockey than ever before.

Uhhh .... you watch softball ... where people stand around for hours .... and only one team is on the field at a time ... and only one team has an opportunity to score at a time ... and the ball goes out of bounds ... and it goes out of bounds again ... and again ... and then the pitcher throws a ball ... then ball two ... and no one sweats ... and the ball is actually only in play for less than 10 minutes a game ... yet a game takes hours ....

And you think hockey should be faster?

In Canada hockey draws TV audiences in the millions, while the NBA, NFL and MLB are in the hundred thousands. The Toronto Raptors sometimes get a TV audience of less than 100,000.

What in xxxx is the Spike network?

Lets see here, we dont need to change anything to make it so that YOU or any other people like hockey. Its a complex game so you have to be able to understand that...which i can already tell you lack the ability to comprehend it anyways

HAHAHAHA!!! All of you guys came up with such funny answers...

Oh, by the way...it only gets low ratings in the US and you know why?? Because americans (even though i am one) are stupid and cant watch a game where the puck is in play the entire 60 mins. They need constant replays to be able to even see what went on thats why football (and baseball and softball in your case) is so popular. IDIOTS can follow it....

Do you like softball cuz the ball is bigger and you can see it better. oh and if anyone complains about not being able to see the puck, GET GLASSES YOU BLIND ****. and if you dont like glasses may i introduce you to contacts.....

women's softball??

NO!!

focus...

the thing that got me interested in hockey was simply the speed and physicality needed to play the sport, yes they have more stoppages than in my other love, soccer, but it's a contact sport so the players need a quick breather every so often

it's a great sport and it's so competitive, any team can beat any other on any day

Hockey players have more skill on there left toe then any other sport players have in there whole body. If you cant get into hockey your not a sports fan. End of story.

I am not thrilled with the olympic size rink if you do not like the game there is nothing we could do or say that would change your mind. Also there is nothing worse than trying to watch the game at the Arena and you have someone asking a question every 8 seconds.Drives me nuts.

I am a hockey fan, and I do not find the game boring at all. Some games, yes, can be boring if teams are using "legal" version of the neutral zone trap, but for the most part hockey is the greatest game on earth.
