A while back Teppo Numminen had open heart surgery and was given a pretty fair chance of rehabbing and playing again if he decided to. The Sabres could sure use him on the ice and as a leader in the locker room. I've heard a while ago that he was skating but has anyone heard anything more about his progress?

A return date around the the all-star game timeframe if all goes well.

He's also in the final stages of selling his company (Montreal) to Warrior, which is a financial load off his mind for sure.

I know he has skated, but haven't heard when he'll be back. They could certainly use him as he was a great set up man coming out of the defensive zone, and a good leader from what I've read. I hate the way he was treated after not making camp. I hope they've made it up to him behind the scenes.

Nothing beyond the fact that he's been doing some light skating. From his comments, it sounds like he's trying to come back both physically and emotionally, and that's been a challenge.

He's not being paid by the Sabres this season since he didn't show up for training camp, so hopefully he's got some cash stowed away for such a situation.

I saw video of him at a practice (not skating, just visiting) about a month ago. I also heard in the last week that he has skated through at least 3 full practices. Sounds like he's doing well, best wishes to him, we'd love to have him back!

From what I know, he has skated a few times the past week or so, but is still uncertain if he will play in the NHL again

I don't know if Teppo will be back with the team, barring any major injuries to the other defencemen. The young guys have stepped up this year and are playing great. Who are you going to take out of the lineup, to put the old man in for?
