The Sabres are probably going to (if they haven't already) cut ties with the Amerks. What would happen to players that have recently been called up to play for Buffalo, but are only there to fill an injury spot? Would those players from Rochester have to go back if the Sabres didn't plan on keeping them for the whole season? And if the organizations do sever ties, where will Buffalo get players from in the interim of finding a new AHL team to affiliate with?

Boy, I hope that makes sense, I know what I'm trying to say, but I feel like it came out as a big blob of words.

Snickers - it was on the news tonight. I was pretty surprised too, but there it was! Apparently, the Amerks are in some crazy amount of debt, and there are "philosophical" differences between how the Amerks want things to be done, and how the Sabres want things to be done. (i.e., the Sabres want to use the Amerks as a place to "breed", for lack of a better word, young talent. The Rochester organization wants to get older and more experienced players there.) When asked about it, Tom Galisano said that ship had already sailed. Sounds like it really may happen!

Any players under contract (or assignment) to the Buffalo Sabres will go to Buffalo's new AHL affiliate.

Whichever team inks an agreement with Rochester, will move their players to Rochester from their current affiliate.

Every year for the last 41 years, at least 2 teams have changed minor league affiliation. It happens all the time.

CAAM, where did you hear this? I am a
Griffins fan living here in Grand Rapids, MI &
this is the 1st I've heard of it. I would be
surprised if it occurred in the middle of the
season.
