Well if you look at the overall western conference instead of just the division, CBJ is pretty surprising. They've been dismal until this year and they're still 4th in the division but if you look on the Yahoo standings page, CBJ is 7th on the list of the 15 teams. Still not great, but surprising given their really poor performances in past years. They're really getting it together. They beat the Redwings last week.
I'm new and no one likes me so if I get thumbs downs I won't be surprised.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see the Canadiens doing well, even if they've slowed down after a very hot start. They've surprised me with their ability to hang with some of the tougher teams, although the two losses to Buffalo and the late goal last night were difficult to take.
I'm also a little surprised to see Edmonton hit the 10-win mark already, considering how awful they've looked at times this year. They've got some young talent, but I thought they'd have sunk further to the bottom of the Northwest by now.

Chicago, Toews and Kane are only going to improve into top 40 scorers and the hawks will easily make the playoffs.
