Now that Havlat is back, scoring two goals last night, along with guys like Kane,Toews,Ruutu,Lang, and Sharp .How far can they make it in the playoffs? They are currently sitting 5th in Western conference now.Only Detroit,San Jose,Colorado have consistent teams,so there should be a good shot for the Hawks.

Haley's already given the Hawks the Cup...no point in finishing out the season now!
I'm just across the street from the Hall of Fame, I can take it to Chicago on Sunday
;)
Seriously though, despite what the previous 25 games has suggested, Detroit is still the best team in Central division, so the best seed Chicago could get would be 4th (and there are other teams there right now).
The team has developed chemistry quicker than a lot of people have thought, and having 12 new players will do that.
1) Khabibulin is playing his best hockey since he won the Cup and Lalime is a great back-up
2) Yanic Perreault has made a huge difference. Last year Chicago ranked dead last in face-off's won and are currently 4th. It's easier to play on offence when you control the puck from the face-off and he's made that easier.
3) The rookies have fit in very well. A lot of people were questioning Toews' stamina and Kane's size and skill, but these men aren't afraid of anything and even Babcock said after the last Wings game how much these guys have improved since the season started.
4) Savard is actually a decent coach. He was an amazing player to watch and amazing players don't always become great coaches (see Gretzky in Phoenix or Maurice Richard in Quebec's first WHA season).
5) Time is on their side. This team still has some young skill being developed and with Toews, Kane, Byfuglien, Burish, Seabrook, Barker and Keith as a starting nucleus - this team should gel and grow together.
Haley...........I seriously doubt that Samsonov will be with the team come playoff time. he was a healthy scratch last night, has yet to score (for a guy counted on to score 20) and his ice time has continued to diminish. The emergence of Byfuglien as a forward, and the emergence of the youngsters has pushed Samsonov down the depth chart.
In fact, if I were to talk to Denis this very moment, I might be able to get my name ahead of Samsonov!

I was at at the game last night and if they play the way they did last night they will do fairly well. The Hawks also have owned Detroit this season and we took out Colorado when we played them. I think even without Havlat the Hawks were playoff bound.

Well it's still debatable as to whether or not they will even make the playoffs. I like their team and think that have a pretty good shot, finishing 7th or 8th. If this is the case, there is a strong chance they would be facing Detroit in the first round, and I would pray they take them out because the Redwings are the Achilles Heel of my Sharks. I wouldn't expect them to make it past the second round, but I have been wrong before.

If Martin Havlat can stay healthy I think Chicago has a great shot. They have owned Detroit this year and seem to be improving on a nightly basis. My only concern is their younger players begin to slow down after the all star break.

First off, I am pulling for the Hawks. I love the chemistry and direction they have.
But, I think just making the playoffs will be a great achievement. Getting past the first round is doubtful this year.

I think the playoff teams are going to be very close this year. And several teams are going to be very disapointed.
The ones who aren't going to make it are
Nashville
Calgary
Phoenix
Los Angeles
Edmonton
That leaves 8 spots for 10 teams
The ones who make it
Detroit
Dallas
Vancouver
St. Louis
Colorado
San Jose
Minnesota
That leaves one slot
Chicago
Columbus
Anaheim (if they sign Niedermayer and Selanne they make it)
Those are my predictions if things stay the same

Lity, lmao. I have tears from laughing. That Luke Richardson Bio answers, I mean my stomach hurts from laughing.
Jimmy: News Flash, the Blackhawk's will not only make the playoffs, they are going all the way. We may need to pre-call the engraver make sure names like Wisniewski, Byfuglien, and Samsonov are spelled correctly.
Edit: Look at the Blackhawks roster. Just about every guy on that team has a 4 or 5 letters in the their name. Speaking of spelling, I need to type slower. Every answer I have given today has huge grammatical errors.

In a thread the place the question grow to be "how many factors do you may desire to clinch a playoff spot?" the respond grow to be fifty 4. Now, the Blackhawks have 40 5 factors. in the event that they shop the %., they won't want greater desirable than six video games to clinch the playoffs statistically

I can see them getting to the conference semi's. But it is always possible for a hot team with a hot goalie to go deeper. You never know.
