I'm sure that this question has been asked several times before, but I didn't see it so I'm asking...Who do you think would win in a scheduled 15 round Heavyweight title match between the Joe Louis of 1937-38 and the Cassius Clay of 1963-64?

Joe Calzaghe displays incredible speed, but most of his opponents seem to say they are "PITTY PAT" shots...... Myself, the first time I ever saw or heard of Joe was against "Left hook" Lacy and I was in AWWW .. He totally dominated Lacy. I expected the opposite (an early Lacy win). Calzaghe is quickly becoming my all time favorite, as am I realizing he deserves to be. Could it be "PITTY PAT" with such an impressive record, I just don't see how. What do you think? Thanks for your time!

Ruslan Chagaev has dethroned WBA champion Nikolai Valuev. Any thoughts about it?

Don't include Sugar Ray Robinson as I have already assumed he will be at the top of everyone's list.

Yes I am sure the question has already been asked, but it is worth asking again.

Or will Louis' 25 straight defenses ever be matched or overtaken for that matter?

Ruslan Chagaev is the new WBA heavyweight champ, after winning a 12 round majority decision over previously unbeaten Nikolay Valuev (welcome to the Ivan Drago era).
It was a good match, with Chagaev boxing a clever tactical fight, and taking advantage of Valuev's inability to figure out a leftie.
He now becomes the third southpaw heavyweight champ in history.
The talk up until now has been about Valuev's run at Marciano's 49-0 record. Not gonna happen, he fell three wins short.
The last guy to come close was Larry Holmes, who was 48-0 before he sealed his fate when he signed to fight Michael Spinks.
In this era of a three way split in world titles (WBO doesn't count), it would seem to be an easier proposition for a heavyweight to overtake Marciano's mark.
Apparently not.
Will that mark ever be matched or bettered? Probably not. But in this whacko sport, anything's possible.

Worldwartyson asked a very good/creative question in reference to Tyson, but then he backs it up with some of the most ridiculous drivel I've ever heard. The question was would Tyson be considered the greatest fighter ever if he started his career in 1955. then he proceeds to claim that "Iron" Mike would destroy these fighters: Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Liston, and Marciano. Character and heart count for a lot in professional sports, but it counts ten fold in boxing. I don't think Tyson beats any of these men. Why? Because of his lack of both character and heart. This was proved true when he fought Douglas, Holyfield twice, and Lewis.
I'd like you to match Tyson against the aforementioned fighters and tell me the result of the fight. Let's see how important heart and character is to others in this forum.
