This would be a nightmare for Hopkins. Chad Dawson would most likely win this fight....and I tell you why;
Chad is physically stronger, he's faster, is a VERY skilled tricky southpaw, has great defense and very good offense. He's an active boxer, throws a lot of punches, put accurate combinations together and he's YOUNG. He brings youth and hunger to the ring. Chad has all the tools to dominate the LHW division, and he's only 24 years old, so he'll be even better in the future. Right now after dominating Harding and especially the tough Polish fighter, now former worldchamp (WBC) Tomasz Adamek...Chad is definitely the number 1 LHW and the man to beat.
Hopkins would NOT want to fight someone like Chad Dawson at this point in his career. Why? Because Hopkins is not in his prime anymore and Chad is the real deal, but is still not a big star. Why challenge a guy who hasn't a big name but will most likely beat you and do it with not that much problem? This fight would also be at Lightheavyweight and Hopkins is/was at his very best when fought at middleweight.
I have mad respect for Hopkins who is already an all time great at middleweight, and even though he's still very good, he's 42 years old and not in his prime anymore. Hopkins couldn't really handle a younger stronger boxer in Jermain Taylor. (Sure, Taylor is great, but a prime Hopkins would've beaten Taylor in fashion) Chad Dawson is even bigger, stronger and better than Taylor, so this is NOT a good fight for Hopkins.
My prediction;
Chad Dawson by either UD or late TKO in a fight where there's no question about who the better man in the ring is.

Good question Brent! This could prove to be a very close and competitiive fight. Of course Hopkins has faced the tougher competition in his great career. Hopkins despite his age is still a very smart fighter with outstanding boxing skills and talent. Dawson si also an excellent fighter and will give BHop one heckuva fight. My pick here is Hopkins by split decision.

At 42 age would decide this one, but it is very difficult to bet against a hall of fame boxer the status of Bernard Hopkins, part of you must still belive Hopkins would find a way to win. I still say Taylor didn't do enough to take the title from Hopkins, but the blogbaba wasn't one of the judges at either fight, so his opinion doesn't matter. Father time is waits for no man, not even the "Executioner". This is one fight Hopkins might think about avoiding. Thumbs up to Chao, we said sir.

Hopkins, Hopkins has beaten the best of the best and blocked out a divison like the sun. He was on top for 10+ years. Dawson hasn't fought a great fighter yet.

Dawson would UD Hopkins not knock him out. Hopkins has good ring generalship but I see Dawson with the upset win due to age and speed. Plus he does have a good defensive teacher as a trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr.

I think Dawson is a breaing force in the boxing world who is gradually making a name for himself. Hopkins, for me, is a guru in the boxing ring. He uses his ring smarts more to beat his opponents now. Unlike before, Hopkins used more hustle and physicality. Hopkins would have an edge defense and stamina against Dawson. Chad would have the edge in strength.
The early rounds will go in Dawson's favor. He will outhustle Hopkins in this stage of the fight. I see Hopkins getting in sync in the middle rounds but will probably split it with Dawson. Dawson is more energetic and he will force Hopkins to use his defense more. In the later rounds, I think Hopkins would have figured out Dawson and I see him countering and outboxing Dawson up to the final bell. Ultimately, I think that Hopkins has enough to squeeze out a majority decision win.

Brent this would be a good matchup. After looking at who they have fought I would give Hopkins a very slight margin by decision if picking anyone. Hopkins will have his hands full when he fights Dawson.
Brent check out the Laila Ali questions there are three of them. Who is the victim of unwarranted abuse?
One of Beazlies resolved between 4 -4:30 a.m. Santana got best answer you can check it out there. Santana also got best answer from Mike. It is there.

Bernard is in his 40's now - he might not be able to brutalize a slick fighter like Dawson into submission.
