Worldwartyson asked a very good/creative question in reference to Tyson, but then he backs it up with some of the most ridiculous drivel I've ever heard. The question was would Tyson be considered the greatest fighter ever if he started his career in 1955. then he proceeds to claim that "Iron" Mike would destroy these fighters: Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Liston, and Marciano. Character and heart count for a lot in professional sports, but it counts ten fold in boxing. I don't think Tyson beats any of these men. Why? Because of his lack of both character and heart. This was proved true when he fought Douglas, Holyfield twice, and Lewis.
I'd like you to match Tyson against the aforementioned fighters and tell me the result of the fight. Let's see how important heart and character is to others in this forum.

Good question sir! When Tyson fought anyone with any talent, he folded like a tent. He was sorely lacking in heart and character. Now for how these fights would have panned out here goes:

Ali would win a very lopsided 15 round decision
Foreman would have caught Mike coming in and deposited him on the canvas in 5 rounds.
Frazier would have went toe to toe with Mike and never would have stopped throwing those left hooks until the referee stops the fight in the 9th round.
Liston would have jabbed Mike and beat him pretty much on the outside and would have won by unanimous decision.
Marciano would have had too much heart for Tyson and would have landed his famous Suzy Q right hand in round 8 ending the night for Mike.

In my opinion, Mike Tyson would rank somewhere between 15-20 on the Top 20 Heavyweights of all time. He was strong, had a very good punch, and determination. He lacked defense, boxing skills, and height. Marciano was a short heavyweight, but Rocky had ring savvy. Against the greats like Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Holmes, and Norris he goes down for the 10 count. Even Earnie Shavers and Ernie Terrell would demolish him.

In a street fight, however, Mike could be very dangerous.

Brad Morris 8 gets a thumbs up from the blogbaba, mentioning Tyson's name with the likes of Ali, Forman, Frazier, Liston and Marciano dishonors those great champions. If any fought Mike in their prime, Mike wouldn't go the distance, and the fight would end as Brad Morris 8 so adeptly answered, unfortunately for Mike, all of them would KO Tyson not just the top two. Keith sees it pretty much as I do and gets a thumbs up as well, but Liston, Frazier and Marciano would walk through Tyson faster than Douglas did.

Brent, from what I know of character, I agree with your assessment and then some, unfortunately Yahoo answers community guidelines prohibits truthful discussion of Mike Tyson's documented legal history previously made public in other media forums. Such is the way of things. Great question, correctly worded. Odds are this one will get flagged as well, but if it makes it, then the blogbaba has conformed to Yahoo answers community standards.

Marciano, Ali, Foreman, a focused Liston was also a good boxer not just a slugger, a fresh not worn and torn Frazier beats Tyson also. All these fighters beat Tyson.

I watched Tyson- Tillis two nights ago. Tillis and his movement bothered Tyson alot. This was from 1986. I pictured Ali fighting Tyson. It would be no contest as Ali was much quicker than Tillis.

Liston and Frazier would have to be at their best. Foreman had good skills and power I'm pretty confident he would beat Tyson. Liston and Foreman could not fight like they did against Ali and win against Tyson.

Marciano, Frazier, Liston against Tyson is a toss up. Who ever could withstand the others punishment would win. I have to go with Marciano, Frazier, and Liston looking at their overall careers.

I laugh at these Tyson fans. The guy never beat ANYBODY that was any good. He was very lucky to come on the scene when he did. I would give him a chance against Marciano and maybe Liston, but that's it. Frazier would be a good fight, but I give the edge to Joe. Ali would mess his head up so bad that it wouldn't be close. And Foreman would absolutely murder Tyson. It wouldn't even be a contest. Personally, I think Young George is the most underrated boxer of all time. Tyson is not in his class,

He beats Liston, Marciano, and Frazier. Anyways he would never have been the best because of his mental problems. His career and everything in it ****** up after Rooney got canned and Cus died, and he started to not care anymore. Either way, he wasn't the greatest ever, but he would have beaten a few of those mentioned.

I think bluedevil has it just about right. Ali couldn't KO anybody; his Liston fights must have been fixed.
He beat on Ernie Terrell and George Chuvalo till he was tired of hitting them, and couldn't know them down.
And how anyone can think Tyson would knockout Marciano.........dah.............let's see.......one is undefeated, the other lost more title fights than the other had title fights (I think).
But, of course, the real Greatest, would have taken them all; one punch to the body yielded some broken ribs, ruptured spleen, liver damage -- rape-a-dope him why don't ya.............go figure.
