Now that the unthinkable has happened, and you've got three white guys holding the major championships - IBF, WBC, WBA - you'd think that Ivan Drago has just shown up.
On this forum I've read some of the most irrational, if not racist, commentary on these guys; nonsense espousing ghetto politics and how these guys are superior to guys from 'the hood'.

Reality check. Race has not, and should not play a part in this equation. Trust me, the average American sports fan doesn't give a damn about the color of these guys' skin, or where they're from.
Criticism levelled against them is based only on their prowess as fighters.
They're just not that good, and are benefitting from a very weak division.
WBC - Oleg Maskaev 34-5-0. KNOCKED OUT by Lance Whitaker, Kirk Johnson, David Tua, Corey Sanders (the American version) and Oliver McCall (in one round).
IBF - Wladimir Klitschko 47-3-0. The most overhyped of all. Knocked out by Lamon Brewster, destroyed by a smaller,

I've seen Tony in action in a spoof porno video and if he's as bad with his fists as he is in the sack then I reckon HM would knock him spark out!!

Are they kidding? Ali beat a lot of bigger "badder" punchers out there. Plus, Marciano cut easily. I say Ali would win in 5 rounds (TKO or KO).

I'm just curious how they have to do it, do they have them registered with their local Law enforcement agency or through the boxing commisions or what? And can they do more serious jail time than an ordinary citizen if they punch someone?

Ali, at 32, and a 5 to1 underdog, was able to knock out a seemingly invincible, 25 year old George Foreman.
20 years later, Foreman, at age 45, was able to overcome 3 to1 odds, as well as an apparently insurmountable age gap, and stop 26 year old Michael Moorer, becoming the oldest boxing champ ever.

For serious boxing fans only; what, in your opinions, was the greater achievement?

Makes you wonder if some of the supposed "champions" were ever good....I think Ali was tied to the mob. He fought in an era when teh mob controlled everything, from vegas to hollywood. This is the reason why ali is a paper champion, and his records should be expunged.

The guy got very very lucky against liakhovich. The guy blows at boxing. Do you think this moronic idiot has a chance against any of the russian champions. No, they are all superior to briggs. just because briggs is from the "hood" people think the moron can fight.

I read a question about Ali and it had me thinking.....Several facts about the paper-champion

1. He fought in an era of rampant fixing. This was a time when the mafia controlled boxing. Sometimes it makes you wonder if he was tied to the Gambino or Genovese Crime families.
2. He exposed himself to punches, sometimes it seemed like he would jump into the opponents fists purposely
3. He was a draftdodger. Cant deny this folks, in real life he was a coward.
4. back to question 1.

Should we really consider him a "champion" ?
