Are they kidding? Ali beat a lot of bigger "badder" punchers out there. Plus, Marciano cut easily. I say Ali would win in 5 rounds (TKO or KO).

I still cannot believe there are still people who ay Marciano would win. Do they even watch boxing? For god sakes, he weighed only 185 pounds! Ali would have danced around him and taken him apart rather easily!

I GUESS THAT I NEED TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT AGAIN.
TO electricg... - BOXING HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TEST OF WILLS AND IT REMAINS SO TODAY. IT IS NOT THE SKILL BUT THE WILL. TO DOMINATE/WIN, YOU MUST IMPOSE YOUR WILL ON THE OTHER FIGHTER. WHEN YOU MATCH UP FIGHTERS YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT BOTH FIGHTERS BEING IN THEIR PRIMES.
TO RICH A - JOHNSON WON THE TITLE IN 1908 BY BEATING TOMMY BURNS IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA ON POINTS. THE POLICE STOPPED THE FIGHT BECAUSE BURNS WAS GETTING BEAT AND THEY DIDN'T WANT A RACE RIOT TO ENSUE.
JOHNSON LOST TO WILLIARD IN HAVANA, CUBA BY KO IN 26 RDS IN 1919. JOHNSON LATER CLAIMED TO HAVE THROWN THE FIGHT BECAUSE OF HIS LEGAL TROUBLES WITH THE U. S. GOVERNMENT.
IN THIS BOUT ALI WINS A 10 RD TKO ON CUTS OR A LOP-SIDED, ONE-SIDED 15 RD UNANIMOUS DECISION.

In their prime both were terrific fighters, one a brawler (Rocky) the other a power-punching boxer (Ali).
I would say that Ali wins in 7 by KO, only because he would be the better athelete. Marciano could win only by early knockout, but the young Ali was too good a boxer and would have scouted Marciano too well.

Marciano got his nose totally sliced in two fighting Jersey Joe Wolcott, and they didn't stop the fight. He ended up KO'ing Jersey Joe. He also had a brutal fight against Ezzard Charles, but Rocky KO'd him. He beat Archie Moore, who was then light-heavyweight champ, but was getting old. That fight was a dog fight. If Rocky got inside his opponent, whoever it was, he'd beat them to a pulp. In most of his fights, he took a beating himself but came back to win 'em all. He retired undefeated, 49-0.
Ali was the fastest heavyweight I've seen in my lifetime. When he beat Liston he was only 22. Liston used to brag that his left would send guys to the hospital, and his right would kill. He beat Floyd Patterson twice in the 1st round for the title, and broke the jaw of Cleveland Williams with one punch. But, he couldn't catch Ali. Ali peppered him for 6 rounds with his jab and great combos. He sliced Liston to peices. When Ali fought Joe Frazier, Joe was probably the closest fighter to a Marciano protype. Short, powerful left hooks, good movement & could take a beating. But as we all know it was 2 out of 3 for Ali. If Ali did the rope-a-dope on Rocky, he'd be beaten like a drum, but if Ali moved like he did in his prime, Rocky would have been TKO'd on cuts within 9 rounds. The Rock was a little champ, about 6', 185-190 lbs. Ali was 6'3" 215-235 lbs.
There was a computerized match-up of all the heavyweight champs in history. The final fight was Ali vs Rocky. Winner? Rocky in a KO, but given the tangibles I'd say Ali in 9 by cuts.
But the greatest? I'd say Jack Johnson who fought 48 rounds in Havana, Cuba, and it was 110 degrees, to win the title.

Rocky Mariano born in the era where boxing is something that a strong mind win the game.
Ali is different, he win matches because he uses his speed and skill (fly like a butterfly, sting like a bee).
If Ali fight Mariano during Mariano prime, Ali might not win it.
But if Mariano fight Ali where Ali is in his prime, Ali will win hand down.
