Now that the unthinkable has happened, and you've got three white guys holding the major championships - IBF, WBC, WBA - you'd think that Ivan Drago has just shown up.
On this forum I've read some of the most irrational, if not racist, commentary on these guys; nonsense espousing ghetto politics and how these guys are superior to guys from 'the hood'.

Reality check. Race has not, and should not play a part in this equation. Trust me, the average American sports fan doesn't give a damn about the color of these guys' skin, or where they're from.
Criticism levelled against them is based only on their prowess as fighters.
They're just not that good, and are benefitting from a very weak division.
WBC - Oleg Maskaev 34-5-0. KNOCKED OUT by Lance Whitaker, Kirk Johnson, David Tua, Corey Sanders (the American version) and Oliver McCall (in one round).
IBF - Wladimir Klitschko 47-3-0. The most overhyped of all. Knocked out by Lamon Brewster, destroyed by a smaller,

significantly older Corrie Sanders (the South African version), quit, QUIT against the great Ross Puritty and gets knocked on his a*s if you so much as look at his chin.
WBA - Nicolay Valuev 45-0-0. Undefeated, against greats like Monte Barrett and John Ruiz.
When these guys start showing some dominance, they'll get their due.

I agree with you 110 percent! The heavyweight division is the worst it has been in years, and it has nothing to do with color. The division is just void of any outstanding fighters or prospects right now. It wasn't that long ago when we had fighters like Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, and Moorer as champions at one time or another. But their time has passed and the guys in the division now are just not as good as those guys were. Wladimir Klitschko is not the answer for the future of the division. James Toney is a great fighter, but he is almost 40 and can't seem to get in any kind of decent shape to really dominate like i think he can if he was motivated. Samuel Peter, who i once thought might be the one to rescue the division with his Tyson-like punching power, was beaten by Klitschko and was lucky to win a close fight against Toney. Valuev is unbeaten but who has he fought? Is anyone really taking him seriously? Shannon Briggs? Nuff said right there! The best thing that these guys can do right now is to try to fight each other and unify the titles. At least then they can take a step toward a little respect by having an undisputed champ among them. Maybe there's a good Heavyweight in the near future on the horizon that will grab our attention, but it is what it is right now.

Granted u cant compare these dudes with the modern greats just yet but u dudes in the U.S. are bagging them too much,Valuev comes to the states and does a good job,he still gets bagged,Lampley say's he has a head like a Saint Bernard,I mean how disrespectful is that!Vitali Klitschko was constantly bagged,I remeber b4 he was champ and HBO showed him punching the stuffing outta Larry Donald with some highlights and Lampley saying Donald went down of his own valition...hahahaha :-),anyway dudes get used to it coz I dont see u guy's having the champ for a long time and the russkies will most probably juggle it 4 years, how come none of u white american dudes can fight?Only bag the guy's who can :-) and I am talking boxing not MMA!

Brad, Smitty, and Pancho I'm in complete agreement with what each of you has said. I'm not going to be redundant.
