who is with me on this? I just read a post of who is the better GM - Cashman or Epstein. I said Shapiro because he has to be creative. He will be counting his blessings if he can lock up Sabathia. Shapiro being told to get Beckett AND Ramirez would be absolutely unheard of so I think Shapiro has done a great job. Comments?

This will settle a bet. Jacoby Ellsbury of the Red Sox scored from second base on a wild pitch in a game against the Rangers on 7/03/07. My buddy says that it was the first time ever. I say "no way" but can't find evidence either way searching online. Can anyone help?

My son and I are extreme red sox fans, and we go to some games. But I would love to be able to take him to every game. The red sox blood must go on! What can I do to get on a list? Or does anyone know someone who would like to sell their tickets?

2007-10-26 04:56:49 · 8 answers · asked by Andrew S 1

Remeber when the sox were down 3 games to 0 against the yankess and were given up for? Well the exact same thing happened with the Indians. Down 3 to 1 and mostly given up for. They come back win the series. If they sweep the Rockies like they did the Cardinals it'll be 2004 all over again.

What do you think?

With the success of the Pats and now the Red Sox (about to win their 2nd WS since 2004) not to mention the great team the Celtics are putting together, who is doing a better job? I'm not sure how the Bruins are doing as I'm not much of a hockey fan but take a look at Boston College (8-0) with its number 2 ranking. What city can compare to Boston at this very moment

Is it me or does Fenway Park seem like the most boring place to watch a game at?
Hanging with rich white Republicans and singing Neil Diamond songs just has never been my cup of tea.
That doesn’t look like any ballgame I’ve ever been to. Way to safe.
It looks more like the Young Republican convention or a KKK rally.
Where’s the ‘edge’?

I’m a casual baseball fan and don’t understand why drafts in baseball don’t seem to produce the same results as basketball or football. BoSox have been ok the last 5 five years, where did they get Papelbon? Why wasn’t he drafted by a crappy team like KC Royals?

Why can’t the loser teams draft players like Papelbon? When someone throws 98 mph and fairly straight, isn’t that a sure sign that this guy should be drafted high? He was drafted in the 4th round in 2002!

Two days ago I overheard my coworkers @ Morgan Stanley talking excitedly about this new show that they have been tuning into. Being educated men, and often critical of pop media, I found it strange that they would allow themselves to become so engaged in such a program. I believe it's a show (perhaps it's the end of a Series) that involves a futuristic embattlement of various countries (Bahstin vs. Kholorado?), seemingly with much violence: hitting, striking, and other foul play. Viewing such aggression does not particularly strike my own fancy, but I was wondering what the nature of this program is, and if anyone can tell me more about it. I have approached my coworkers regarding this show, but to no avail; they laugh. I think they are embarrassed to admit they indulge in so much television. They did, however, tell me to post this question under "baseball." I figured it's worth a shot.

In theyre recent history, in the Joe Torre era, how many times did they play each other & does anyone know what the final was, not who won but what was the actual series final, 4 games to 3, 4 games to 0, that kind of thing. Not a fan or hater of either so save your hate for the next one. lol.

Everyone one else, on all the teams, wear their uniforms rather tight so they can play better, but he fricking looks like Hugh Hefner out there in his pajamas. What is up with that? Can anyone explain this?

....because of those guys in the first row pounding on the wall. Really, it got annoying because the experts at Fox put a microphone right next to them. It was either turn off the sound, or the game. You who stayed with the game missed an awesome finish to the BC -VT game!

I am fairly nauseated by the phony machismo displayed by the Red Sox organization and fans (clapping during game1)over the last few days. Is it just me or is sh*t talking and showboating at an all time high? The fact that the Sox fans can overlook the fact that Manny Ramirez, Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, and Jon Papelbon are such horrible people in their hunger for a world championship has brought into question my appreciation for the game itself. They are a group of seasoned veterans that are beating up on a group of 20 year olds, and doing it with the least grace and respect of any championship team in world series history. It is like watching a snuff film. It is a sad commentary on our society when a team chooses to win in this way. You may hate the Yankees for winning all those years, but the amount of fist pumps and pitcher yells and the like was at a minimum. Joe Torre instilled a sense of respect for the game. You just didn't behave like that.

Situation...

Game: 7
Inning: Bottom 9th
Bases: Loaded
Score: 4-7 Colorodo Leading
Your Situation: Sitting by the yellow foul pole with a video camera in hand... recording of course.

Manny hammers a fastball into deep left, soaring over towards foul territory, inches... no, centimeters... no millimeters just foul of the foul pole... atleast that's what the umpires ruled it. A foul ball.

But you and your video camera recorded the ball just knicking the foul pole, and if you listened closely, you could hear the sound of crashing metal and ball.

Would you as a Red Sox fan run up to home plate with your video camera, dodging security guards, to show home plate umpire (crew chief) that the ball actually did hit the foul pole, and is a fair homerun?

Just a little fun question I decided to ask.

BTW, how many security guards you think you'd be able to outrun?
