Yes..Bobby Richardson in 1960 for the Yankees received it.

In football Chuck Howley of the Cowboys won an MVP award even though the Cowboys lost the game.

Once upon a time, maybe -- Richardson in 1960 being one of the very few examples (and the only one in the World Series that I can recall).

But today -- no. MLB never says much about how the playoff MVPs are selected -- I think it is a whip-around of five, maybe ten senior writers at the last game -- but consider that Bonds didn't win in 2002, and he was far and away the monster player in that Series. Glaus did win, and while he had a good Series, Bonds outclassed everyone. But they just won't give it to a player from the runner-up team, and that really is a sorely myopic approach.

Yeah, it's happened before.

In 1960 Bobby Richardson of the New York Yankess won the World Series MVP despite the Yankees losing to the Pirates.

Absolutely, Bobby Richardson did it in 1960 for the Yankees even though they lost to the Pirates in 7 games. Maz hit a home run off Ralph Terry in the bottom of the 9th in old Forbes Field. Yogi watched helplessly as it sailed over the wall.

actually ashley is way off base in trying to answer this question... it isn't about MVP for the whole season... it's for the World Series... and yes it happens...
and even though I am not particularly a fan of the Yankees... NO ONE on the tigers could be considered for the regular season MVP except for maybe Granderson only because of his unique stats that almost nobody has ever done before... the ONLY reason that the Yanks have even made the playoffs these last two seasons is because of A-Rod... like him or not, it's the truth...

that's. In 1995, Nick "The Brick" Anderson of Orlando could have been given the Finals MVP for lacking 4 immediately unfastened throws before Kenny "The Jet" Smith buried a three-pointer as time expired. The Rockets gained in OT. yet i assume Olajuwon became into the extra helpful determination. as quickly as, a Dallas Cowboy (ughhh!) have been given MVP of the SuperBowl even although his group misplaced. that's the only time i'm able to undergo in suggestions in any professional game.

yes of course it is possible!! unlikely but possible. When chosing an MVP it is supposto be the player that means the most to the team, not necessarily the best player in the league. Like Ordnoez means more to the tigers than Arod does to the yankees.

this day in age, its doubtful to occur again..... Bonds set the record for most homers in 1 world series in 03, but giants lost and angel troy glaus won it.
