In theyre recent history, in the Joe Torre era, how many times did they play each other & does anyone know what the final was, not who won but what was the actual series final, 4 games to 3, 4 games to 0, that kind of thing. Not a fan or hater of either so save your hate for the next one. lol.

Im pretty sure they played in 2001 as well, I remember cause it was right after 9/11 & they Yanks had a few dramatic comebacks against one of the Sox Asian bullpen pitchers, I would be really surprised if theyve only played 3 series, I thought it was more.

The Red Sox and Yankees have met in the postseason three times, all in the ALCS, all in the Joe Torre era.

1999: Yankees won 4 games to 1
2003: Yankees won 4 games to 3
2004: Red Sox won 4 games to 3

Regarding 2001, the Yankees and Red Sox definitely did not meet in the playoffs that year; the Red Sox didn't even make the postseason. That year, the Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics in the Division Series, then beat the Seattle Mariners in the LCS before losing to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the World Series.
