The only thing that these VERY different squads share is their "NEVER SAY DIE" approach to the game.
The 2004 team was really one for the ages. That team had faced lots of setbacks and "just misses" before overcoming ALL odds to rid the Sox of the "CURSE!"
Both squads force opposing pitchers to throw lots of pitches because they are so patient.
This team is exciting because we have so many young, talent kids jelling and grow at the same time.

I don't think so. They had been all but written out when they were down 3-0 in 2004. Apart from a rough stretch after the All Star break, they've been THE dominant AL team all season. The Yankees made it interesting for a little, though.
They're not the underdogs this year.
I guess the Rockies are, but with all the "hottest team in baseball" headlines over the last month, it's hard for me to call even them "underdogs." But, it looks like the fire has died out. I still think they'll win one or two at home, but Boston will win the Series.

Yes, in some ways, but not in others, obviously.
The Yankees were not the the '07 ALCS
I think there's a significant difference between 0-3 and 1-3 in a seven-game series
Our pitching rotation is rotating better
And the only game the Cardinals almost won in '04 was the first one. The second, third and fourth games weren't really in doubt.
Other than that, it's pretty similar, SO FAR.

Don't get ahead of yourself. In 2004 the Red Sox had Pedro for game 3 and Lowe for game 4. This year we have Dice K, who can be very dicey, and Jon Lester, who got rocked by the Indians in game 2. Also, remember that one of Youk, Papi or Lowell has to sit each game. Finally, Dice K and Lester are breaking ball pitchers and balls don't always curve at 5,280 feet altitude. They could come back to Boston up 3-2. It could happen. I would like to be wrong, but it ain't over.

I think 3-1 is different than 3-0. Winning four games in a row is harder than 3. So I guess the "exact" same thing did not happen.

Similar in the comeback, but most people did not write them off after going down 3-1
Most thought the Sox would win with Beckett in game 4, and if Schilling could muster up a good start and win and game 6 most thought they would take it. And they did. You could almost see it coming.

The only way it would be like 2004 all over again is if the Rockies made a miraculous come back to win it. Red Sox aren't the underdog in this one. I love how all these Sox fans who thought they were triumphing over the evil Yankees for so many years still think they are coming from behind. Everyone on the Rockies is 27 or younger. You're the favorite, get over yourselves.

I definately think they are going to win...i'm not counting my eggs...but that's just what I feel. And to all the comments that the Red Sox are the new Yankees...you ignorant fools. It's people like you who define "haters". Go away!

It's the exact opposite of 2004 actually. Back then, the Sox were the underdogs that the whole country was rooting for. Now, they're the cocky imperialsts that the whole country hates. They're this year's version of the 2004 Yankees, and the Rockies are this year's version of the Sox.
