though they paid Bonds 19 million this season for part-time duty, he brought the fans in and packed em in like sardines, which brought the seasons attendance at AT&T Park to well over 3 million. That's a lot of people, hot dogs, beers, hats and everything else the average fan buys. I'm sure the Giants still made a ton of money this season. It would be fiscally smart to bring back Bonds for one more season next year even at a discounted rate of around 10 million, because, the Giants will still pack em in. As Bonds is like 65 hits short of 3,000 and 4 RBI's short of 2,000. It makes sense to keep him around one more season for this milestones. He is a cash cow for the Giants. He is their marquis name. Even with the steroid controversy, Bonds still makes tons of money for the Giants.

I know it's early to be thinking about this, but the Yankees have alot of good pitchers. Who stays, who goes? What will the lineup be? THE YANKS WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!

ok So if the cleveland indians win tonight and the tigers lose the indians clinch? Ok but what if the indians lose and the tigers win? Ok but what if they both lose what happens. I get most of the reasoning for the magic number but can you answer some of my question

I was looking at the standings and a couple of teams had a magic number. I was wondering what exactly does it stand for? Is it the number of wins needed to win the division?

7th game of the world series..with the game tied in the bottom of the 9th and 2 outs...bases are loaded so you can't intentionally walk anyone...who would you rather have at the plate for your team...Ichiro or McGwire? Ichiro is a career .333 .379 .436 and McGwire .262 .394 .588...now remember walking McGwire is out of the question because bases are loaded...and all your team needs is a hit. Would you rather have a guy at the plate with a dismal .262 batting average with a high slugging percentage...or a guy with a higher probability of getting a hit and driving in the winning run?

Giants is a big franchise but a bad team now. They said "Bye" to Bonds and want to rebuild the team. They have Zito and two very talented pitchers - Lincekum and Cane. What do you think they should do in order to compete with other teams next year?

Andy Pettitte because of his 200 wins, low career era, and playoff heroics. Mike Mussina because of his 248 wins and his career low era. Don't forget to average in the fact that they still have more years to play.

If you know the pitcher is going to throw the ball right over the plate not to walk you, what sense does it make to sit there and let a perfect pitch go by? I would think this is the pitch you should be waiting for, if it's not perfect, just let it go, but at least be ready when the meatball comes.
