My son is 9 years old, he's a really good little baseball player and has loved the game since he was able to hold a bat and catch a ball, he actually used to sleep with his bat in bed with him. I'm a single mother, and it's been up to me to train him. He's made the All Stars every year and will give 150% of himself in playing. This year his coaches are very competitive, and of course they are coaching their own kids, they play thier kids every inning and my son is made to sit the bench at least 2 innings per game, which is really making him feel as if they don't want or need him on this team. Their own kids aren't real good, and my son can pitch, catch and play just about every position on the field. Their kids have one position to play and that's their constant position. Now the coaches are very verbal in thier critism, and I of course as a mother pay very strict attention to what is being said to my son. One of the coaches I feel is so nasty he shouldn't be allowed to coach.

Someone needs to tell him that fans care about the game we are watching not for him to be announcing what star is at the game. He needs to stop being such a celebrity struck idiot.

Does a players performance in the AllStar Game count toward their season stats? In MLB The Show it leads me to believe that they do.

The Indians came back twice against Detroit to win it in the 9th inning. This is 1st & 2nd in the AL Central and even though there is a long way to go, games like these could end up being a big factor in the end of the year.

It's really sad since these news outlets are mostly in New York and the surrounding area that they ride the Yankees so much, when there were much better games on last night. That's crap, so much for integrity on Yahoo's part.

I am sick and tired of red sox fans... They are such winy cry babies! I used to hate Yankee fans because they harrased us Angel fans in Anaheim.... But now I see how arrogant and whiny red sox fans are.... They feel like they are the best fans ever!

HELL NO!!

Anaheim Angels fans will never boo Angel players regardless!!

We are real fans!

BTW!

Anaheim Angels vs Red Sox in the ALCS!!!!

Angels in 6 ;0

After the "fight" yesterday in the Cubs dugout, should the Cubs trade Zambrano and/or Barrett?

Just a few months ago every other question was about how many games the Cubs would win and who they were going to play in the World Series. Granted, we're less than half way through the season, but I think you can count the Cubbies out of the postseason, no?

Was going through a site with funny names for a Drama thing for school, and was thinking of funny player names that have played in the majors.
What are some you remember playing? and some you have come across? ( doesnt have to be baseball)

I remember Mickey Klutts playing.
Came across the name of Dick Burns and Dick Cox...They playes at the turn of the century, so no announcer had to call their names!

The thing is that Derek is awesome in the clutch....A-Rod.....isn't. A-Rod is paid more and a power hitter.

I would have to say Derek.

Just curious here on your opinion. In 1909 Ty Cobb hit 9 Hr's ( probably all inside the park jobs) which represented 8.3% of all Hr's hit in the American league that year. Mark McGwire hit 70, which represented 2.7% of all home runs hit in the National League that year.
In 1909 Hr were rare so 9 is a big deal.
In 1998 Hr's were very common ( probably 10 hit 45)

Which becomes more impressive?
This is the problem with comparing players in different eras by stats.
Not suggesting Ty Cobb would have hit tons of HR's today (who knows), he was a different type of player. And if McGwire hit in 1909 who's to say how many he would hit. Different time.

I do realize that stat keeping in the ***** leagues was very unreliable, but, does anybody know a good site that has some sort of statistics for that period. Unfortunately most of the stars never made it to the Majors. I was just curious, even if the stats are inconsistent or unreliable. I know trying to compare Satchel Paige to Walter Johnson is not accurate using stats.
I go by word of mouth from the stars themselves. Guys like Johnson, Wagner, Ruth were honoured to be mentioned as comparisons to the ***** stars. Tells you how good they were.
Wonder if Bonds is honoured to be mentioned with Aaron or Ruth?
