I mean, they both made stupid mistakes that pretty much cost them their careers; the only difference is that the media tore Raffy apart, while Marky-Mark is still sittin' pretty with a possible Hall of Fame nomination. I, for one, think this is beyond rediculous.

Rafael Palmeiro is one of few players in the history of baseball to have at least 3000 hits and 500 home runs. He's just never been a media-central player (until his debaucle, that is).

Mark McGuire is known mostly for being a slugger and breaking the single-season home run record.

Does this mean that hitting a lot of home runs in one season means more than a solid, 20-year career? If you study both of their careers, Palmeiro outshines McGuire in every offensive category (except home runs, slugging and OBP).

Does anyone have a (hopefully non-biased) answer as to why anyone would prefer McGuire being in the Hall over Palmeiro?

i know on the surface it doesnt really seem like that much, but is anyone else impressed with the job Brian Cashman has done with the Yankees this off season? Because i am very impress.. he has cut so much dead weight and added good pieces here and there. I mean he has picked up ALOT of 97mph throwing 23 year olds LOL.. i dunno if he's intending to keep them all, or if he is stockpiling to have inventory to trade, but i think he has done a great job.

Hell he is the second best SS on his team, sure he has a good career bat average, but he definitely isn't a home run hitter. Who here thinks he is maybe only worth half that?

The only other thing I know about him is he died relatively young, I believe he was in his fourties. Cause of death was cancer. Oh, he was from the Clear Spring area of the county of Washington in the state of Maryland. Do you know his name????
