You only have some recent trades there but the worst trade of all time was between the Cubs and Cardinals. On June 15,1964 the Cubs traded outfielder Lou Brock for pitchers Ernie Broglio and Bobby Shantz. Brock won 2 World Series in St. Louis (64,67), was a 6-time All Star and is in the Hall of Fame. Broglio went 7-19 and was out of baseball in 1966 while Shantz was traded to the Phillies later in the 64 season! That is one of the worst trades in all of sports history!

Here are a few that come to mind:
A's trading Roger Maris to the Yankees for Norm Siebern in 1959.
Philies trade Ryan Sandberg and Larry Bowa to the Cubs for Ivan DeJesus in 1982.
Orioles trading Schilling, Finley and Harnisch to the Astros for Glenn Davis in 1991.
And I disagree that the Smoltz/Alexander trade by the Tigers was a bad deal. They had to make a trade. The Tigers were battling for the division title and they needed pitching help (and Smoltz wasn't ready). So, they gambled and traded him away for Alexander. Alexander came over and went 9-0 the rest of 1987 and helped get them into the post season. He also won 14 games for the Tigers in 1988 (who finished 1 game out of first). They got exactly what they needed at the time, so how can you really say this is one of the worst trades of all time? Sure it sucks to trade away a guy like Smoltz in retrospect, but in my mind, this is only a bad trade if Alexander sucks when he comes over.

Tigers trade pitcher John Smoltz to the Atlanta Braves for pitcher Doyle Alexander. Smoltz ended up being a dominate starter and a dominate closer, somthing Tigers missed until this year. They are still missing a dominate closer though, Todd Jones just doesn't do the job.

of the ones you listed i would go with the devil RAYS-PHILLies trade
In my own opinion, the worst trade of all-time was the Phillies trade of Ryne Sandberg. Thought to have little future with the club except as a utility infielder, he was traded along with shortstop Larry Bowa to the Cubs for shortstop Ivan DeJesus prior to the 1982 season. needless to say he's been enshrined in Cooperstown and is arugably one of the top couple second baseman's ever.

Fred McGriff for Elliot, Moore and Nieves. the really component worse than dealing potentialities with as a lot expertise as Lee, Phillips and Sizemore is dealing away a longtime slugger for third-cost minor leaguers. keep in thoughts the Braves had Chipper, Klesko and Javy contained in the device on the time the deal change into made, which makes it even worse, IMO.
