If you ask Joe Morgan himself, he would tell you that, besides being the greatest 2nd baseman of all-time, he is the best announcer in the history of the game.
My opinion is that I wish he would go sell Amway or something because he is brutal.
Joe Buck is pretty decent but sometimes he can be a little biased in the national games he is broadcasting. He does have some great commercials though.

I like them both for what they do which is announce games on Fox. If these are the only baseball games you're watching then you can't be that big of a baseball fan. I'm sure most fans are watching they're teams with their hometown announcers and sure, it get's annoying that Joe & Joe can't seem to be unbiased but I find them tolerable. And I must agree with ClayDawg, Jack Buck was the best baseball announcer to ever grace the sport. In a perfect world, I believe all playoff games should be announced by the hometown announcers if only in their home markets. For the love of the game I'll watch a game no matter who's calling it!

I am shocked they haven't been put together because there might be a fist fight for the microphone. I don't see the fascination with Joe Buck that Fox has and that stupid Holiday Inn commercial where they touch Buck's throat is creepy. Morgan thinks he invented the game. Having the MLB package last season I heard quite a few broadcasters. The most fun was Mark Grace and Thom Brennaman in Arizona, the best was Vin Scully and the one that put me to sleep without a doubt the Detroit Tigers team they are so boring I can't even remember their names.

Joe Buck has won 4 Emmy Awards for his play by play calling. Sorry, guys he's not going anywhere. Fox loves him so much they put him on the NFL.
Joe Morgan and Tim McCarver aren't the best of announcers but they are very knowledgeable about the sport of baseball which keeps them employed.
The only guy I really look forward to hearing call a ball game is Jon Miller. He's knowledgeable of the game and he gives the game life when he announces it.

Not a Joe Buck fan but Joe Morgan is cool. Tim McCarver really annoys me though, he never shuts up.

Both are very biased announcers (Buck with the Cards and Morgan with the Reds) . I wish that Buck wouldn't be allowed to broadcast Cardinal playoff games with Fox...he tends to celebrate Cardinal plays more than other teams. Morgan is more knowledgeable in baseball, but he is sometimes overly arrogant and cocky with his baseball knowledge. This beign said, I like Joe Buck better...even though I am a Cub fan. His dad was one of the greatest of all-time. I o love going to st. louis to see the video they show during the 7th inning stretch. It is of Jack singing "take me out to the ballgame" at Wrigley Field. he is wearing a Cub hat until he gets to the part where he says "...root, root, root for the ___________". and instead of saying Cubs he says Cardinals throwing his Cub hat into the stands and replacing it with a Redbird hat. The crowd can do nothing but cheer....a Wrigley Field crowd cheering for a man in a Cardinal hat. For this reason, I tend to like Buck better, not for him but for his dad.

I grew up in Philadelphia, so I spent my childhood listening to Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn. They were much more low key and were happy to let the game display itself to the viewer, rather than the two of them displaying the game to the viewer.
Baseball is a sport with a lot of natural gaps between plays, but the best announcers realize that not every gap needs to be filled with analysis. The newer generation of baseball announcers, Buck included, love to hear themselves talk and ramble on about statistics and pitch selection and what the batter said to them before the game. No one cares.
Give me the ball/strike count, throw in a stat or two and call the play when the ball gets hit or a baserunner gets on. Save the rest for the post-game dinner amongst yourselves.
