I'm not sure this is even possible, but what happens if you tie for the wildcard?

http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060911&content_id=1657517&vkey=news_nyy&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy copy and paste that if you have not read them. Personally i think it is a joke. If Ortiz thinks he should win it he should pick up a mitt every now and then. His comments saying that a 40 homer 100 rbi guy should deserve it has been true but if you put numbers like that up you should play both sides of the field. After all Jeter will most like end up with atleast 100 rbi so give me your thoughts.

It seems to me that baseball was made for its statistics like HR, RBI, AVG, ERA, IP, AB, BB, SB, K, OBP, SLG, and on and on. The statistics can also you give you a reasonably accurate impression of a game. What I mean is, a baseball box score gives you a good mental picture of how a game went, even if you didn't see it or hear it on the radio. I don't think that is really the case with most other sports. In sports like hockey and football, the statistics are of marginal use at best. No stat effectively tells you how good a hockey defenseman is, or how good a blocker an offensive lineman is, etc.

What's your take?

and ask this question? WHAT'S DAVID ORTIZ SMOKING? He said he should be the MVP even though the Sox are not making the playoffs. Come on Ortiz, even Sox fans will agree with me he should not get the MVP award (now that the Sox are not going to make it). Also I just read ESPN, and Jeter responded to Ortiz comments. Bad move. If I were Jeter, I won't have replied to Ortiz comments. He would have looked better if he had just kept quiet. What do you guys think?

Look, I want serious adult opinions, not 12 year old fans throwing insults at the other team. We seem to have a lot of those on this site. I am not into insults.

Minnesota will become the division winners.
White Sox will make the wild card.
Tigers will not make the playoffs.

I am a White Sox fan but I can see this happen and my crystal ball agrees. Minnesota is hot, Sox need help, but Detroit is down the drain, they lost there fire.

The Twins have been on fire of late. Santana continues toward his Cy Young. They have beaten the Tigers recently and own the White Sox. Do the Twins win the Central? Who goes as the Wild Card?

...and could pick any 25 current MLB players from both leagues, what would your team look like? Don't think of it just as a fantasy league.

What's your starting lineup, and batting order (NL rules)?
5-man pitching rotation
Closer
Pick 11 more players to complete your roster. They could be any combination of pitchers, utility guysand/or star players who didn't crack your starting lineup.

Thanks...have fun!
