How is it unintelligent to propose that a creator or creators (namely "God(s)") did it? How is that unintelligent or irrational?

If you think it's unintelligent or irrational to believe God(s) set everything in motion, do you believe we have the capability to eventually explain pre-Big Bang phenomena? Can you give me some theories on how that would ever be possible?

Yes, it has made world news that Pope Benedict XVI suspects that demon posession is dramatically on the rise, due to teenage interest in Satanism, witchcraft, atheism and the occult. He has made a call for more excorcists, and a stronger belief in a literal Devil, citing the weakening of this view among Christians as a leading contributor to this paranormal dilemna. Does any of this sound just a bit 17th century-esque to any of you others on Y!A???

..if you needed to be born again?

Mine certainly would. She's already been through Hell the first time; I doubt she wants to do it again.

What about yours? Would she be a little upset, too?

People talk about God having a plan for us and also claim that he gave us free will?

This confuses me. If everything is already mapped out then any free will is just an illusion. On the other hand if we do have free will he cant have a plan for us as our fate would be determined by our own individual choices.

How do you reconcile this?

I find it so ironic that God killed Ananias and Sapphira for lying about the purchase price of their land and not giving all of it to the apostles. I guess the moral of this story is you better make sure you're giving enough of your money to the church or God will strike you dead on the spot

The Jewish calendar involves three things: 1) The solar cycle, 2) the lunar cycle and 3) the rotation of the earth. Am I interpreting this correctly? Is the tilt of the Earth in this formula as well?

A true prophet is not just a one time prophet.
a true prophet gives his life to service, as did the twelve apostles, Paul, and Joseph smith. Show me a prophet who fits your field of vision. Christ was a wine bibber and a glutton to those of short vision.

OK, so explain how that freewill applies to the 9./11 passengers.

It seems Allah was the one allowing the freewill choices on that day.

Doctors would do bleeding and used leeches to draw "bad blood" from the patients, but you don't hear people say that about doctors now. Why do people cast off the medieval mindset with doctors but not Christians?

god made the earth, he made the universe, all within 7 days, 5,000 years ago, and god has been aroud for eternity according to you... so, if gods been around so long, why did he decide all of a sudden to make a bunch of black mailing, war-starting, violent, sex driven, rude creatures out of the blue?

Do any of you believe in luck, magic, superstitions, ghosts, or anything similar?

Has anyone else noticed that theists are almost always the ones posting queries regarding
ghosts,

bad luck from not forwarding chain mail,

Criss Angel-real or demonic?,

black cats and ladders, etc....

Theists, have you ever noticed this? If so, what do you think about it?

OK OK you scroll down and read ,,,look at the forwaded picture ..at the end there is a message asking you to forward to 10 ppl and you will be amazed with what is going to happen in your life...another message reads ..if you dont foward this to 10 ppl ...you are going to have bad luck.

should athiests take responsiblility for athiests
should muslims take responsibility for muslims
etc...
hitler may claim Christianity as his religion...but it doesn't reflect what the majority of Christians follow...
bin laden may claim islam as his religion...but it doesn't reflect what the majoryity of muslims follow...
so why the finger pointing to blame the whole group...especially from athiests who blame religion as the source of all things wrong with humanity as if athiests never do anything wrong...

Question!

Let's say you get a bunch of Religious nut jobs/regular nut jobs in charge of a country. Let's say you want to strike another country and the time is nearing.

Wouldn't it be super swell to fulfill a prophecy and do it on "December 23, 2012" so all those who believed in it can run around saying how "right" they are even though you knew about this date, beforehand, and waited?

Isn't it ironic that this date could have been 2013 and the same scenario could take place?

I guess making a prophecy then some loser fulfilling it makes prophecies true - any thoughts?
