Question!

Let's say you get a bunch of Religious nut jobs/regular nut jobs in charge of a country. Let's say you want to strike another country and the time is nearing.

Wouldn't it be super swell to fulfill a prophecy and do it on "December 23, 2012" so all those who believed in it can run around saying how "right" they are even though you knew about this date, beforehand, and waited?

Isn't it ironic that this date could have been 2013 and the same scenario could take place?

I guess making a prophecy then some loser fulfilling it makes prophecies true - any thoughts?

Wouldn't it make more sense for a prophecy to be written down, on paper, and buried until that event comes true? Wouldn't that create more "magical meaning" behind a prophecy since no one knew about it?

Once the date is known, isn't it pretty much self-fulfilling by anyone who wants to make it true?

You could say the same thing about the prophecies regarding the re-establishment of Israel. That's a real-life case of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Your referring to the end of the Mazatec long count calender, which predicts only the exact starting date of a winter solstice about 2,500 years in advance... On December 21st 2012 at exactly 11:11 59 Greenwich time. This is certainly an amazing feat of astronomy and mathematics... No suprise coming from the same group of people who invented the zero and knew exactly how long a day was well over 300 years before anyone else.BUT they never said ANYTHING about the end of the world or none of that mess. So instead of answering your inane question I'll give you some advice: Do your own research, don't listen to what other people have to say about something they don't understand, and for reference the starting date of this calender happens to coincide with Christianity's great flood, and the Hindu's death of Krishna... Both very significant events. Like I said, look into the whole thing.

If its burried under ground, what good will it do us? The prophecies of the Bible are like this: Think of covering ALL of Texas with cheese balls. Don't laugh. Go back and cover it again. Now, paint ONE cheese ball red. Now, fly over Texas and drop it. Now go back and cover Texas again. NOW go back and try and find it, blind folded. Thats how hard it would be for any man to create a prophecy and make it come true. BUT God did it quite a few times. Only God can do it. Some loser couldn't do it. So what's the point of the question?

If you are referring to the Aztec/Mayan calenders, it is the end of a cycle.
On that date, our solar system is supposed to pass through the middle of our galaxy starting another cycle.
In their context, there will be cetain events that happen as a result of where our solar system is within the cycle.

The major religions do not take any stock in the notion of Dec. 23, 2012 being the end of the world. That leaves mostly unbelievers to talk about this, mostly unbelievers to even be concerned about this. What group do you belong to?

It explains why not to be scared about that 2012 thing.

There aren't a lot of Mayan nut jobs in power.
I wouldn't worry about it.

The best "end of the world" prediction ever (except for the fact that it didn't come true):
