anyone who claims to know a definite answer to this will make any claim about religion.

There's no way to know, it doesn't make sense that they'd have them but who can know?

Yes they did. Yes, God has a belly button as well (He has a perfected body of flesh and bone). Yes, Adam and Eve were created. But how does God create life today? This same way was used to create Adam and Eve. This is not the first world God has created nor will it be the last. Adam and Eve were a continuation of life from another world created by God. Do we know who specifically Adam's parents were? No, but just like a previous answer said in the end it isn't relevant to our salvation and mulling over it will not bring us closer to God.

Suzie,
Superb question almost definitely yes to Adam and eve, No of God almighty. The reason is the story told in Genesis left out the technicalities that we today could understand quite well, you see even Charles Darwin as a christian forged forward with amazing scientific ability in his field he too was troubled by facts, but the fact is that in his book 'Origin of species' he shows in the front page all of the long named periods of varying different evolvements, ie basic simple organisms then grass and trees etc etc, all in all six very different periods of development, wherein we appear at the sixth. Well if would have sat down and stared at the first pages of the bible he would see the correlation between he's six periods of time and the six days of gods creation! PS in the ancient Aramaic writings from which genesis was written the word for day has the meaning 'period of time' also any good bible scholar knows that one day to god isn't any different to 1000 years and 1000 years no different to one day as he is not bound by time. Does this help

If you believe that God created them then they were not born so they wouldn't have a belly button. A belly button is what remains of the umbilical cord, a scar. That cord is the food source for a growing fetus while in the incubation period inside it's mother. I don't think you are ready to abandon the dirt and rib story just yet.
Peace to you.

Were Adam and Eve the products of natural childbirth? Were either of them conceived in the normal way? Were either of them carried for nine months in the womb of a woman, being nurtured during that time through an umbilical cord? Now, for the question--Did either Adam or Eve have a belly button? Well, how were they both created? This will help answer the question. "Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (soul)" (Genesis 2:7). Woman had not even been created at this point in time, so it is obvious that Adam did not come from the womb of one. "For man does not originate from woman" (1 Corinthians 11:8). This being true, then how could Adam have had an umbilicus? The even greater question, of course, is this: would not the presence of an umbilicus be a visible testimony to a falsehood? Such a physical mark would be a visible sign that Adam came through natural childbirth from a woman, when in fact he did NOT. Thus, if God had chosen to place such a distinguishing mark on Adam, it would have been a false witness, a testimony to a LIE. The apostle Paul wrote, "If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that He raised Christ from the dead" (1 Corinthians 15:14-15). If testimony is made about something that did not occur, then that is false witness. If testimony is made that Adam and Eve experienced a natural childbirth (evidenced by the presence of an umbilicus), and this couple did not originate via natural means, but rather supernatural means, then the testimony of the umbilicus is "false testimony," and the one proclaiming such (in this case God) would be a liar.

The same problem exists for Eve. "So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh at that place. And the rib which the Lord God had taken from man, made He a Woman. And the man said, `This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man'" (Genesis 2:21-23). Eve also did not experience a natural birth, but rather a supernatural creation! Thus, for her to have been given an umbilicus would likewise be a false testimony. It would, by its presence upon her body, declare she was formed by natural generation, rather than by supernatural creation, and would forever be a visible statement of contradiction to the reality of her creation by the Creator.

The absence of navels on this first human couple would be a powerful, long-lasting witness to the creation itself, and to the power of our Creator God. Dr. Gary Parker, quoting from a study by Ken Ham, phrased it this way, and I would completely agree with this analysis: "Lack of a belly button on Adam and Eve would be one of the biggest tourist attractions in the pre-flood world, as the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren would come up and say, `Why don't you have a belly button?' And they could then recount again and again, to generation after generation, how God had created them special by completed supernatural acts" (Creation Magazine, June 1996). The absence of a navel would testify to Truth, and our God would be glorified; the presence of a navel would testify to a Lie, and our God's glory would thereby be diminished.

This is a good question, and if you're looking for more cynical inquiries that kick the lifetime religious subscribers in the as_ you should read some of my own questions that I have posted here on Yahoo! Answers.

To answer your question, nobody knows. During that time technologically no recording materials existed of any kind. No pencil and paper, no film, no Polaroids.

It's interesting some of the responses that you're getting with this question. "Who cares?" "It doesn't affect our salvation". Textbook responses from human beings that deny years of scientific evidence that disproves the childlike fairy tales and ludicrous stories they subscribe to that build and support their hopes of entering into the heaven the pedophile ministers and priests promised them.

Also interesting are all the improvisations and assumptions the Christians are making to defend their faith and throw your question right back at you. It's no coincidence that's also how most of the bible was written and interpreted.

A belly button is the point where the umbilical cord connects the fetus to the mother's uterine lining. Since neither Adam nor Eve were fetuses inside a mother, they cannot have belly buttons.

And God does not have a belly button because He did not have a mother...and we are not made in his physical image because He doesn't have a 'physical' body. God does not have a physical body that is confined to a particular space and time, that consists of cells with nuclei and chormosomes; He does not have DNA material and testicles/ovaries in which are germ cells for future generations; He does not have melanin to protect DNA from UV damage; He is not dependant on mitochondria to provide Him with life-giving energy; He does not have blood vessels that carry oxygen-enriched blood to his organs; He does not have lungs that suck in air to provide oxygen to His body; He does not have a stomach to digest food and nutrients, or a liver to detoxify material and to generate sex-hormone binding globulins, or kidneys to excrete urine; or intestines to extract nutrients and concentrate waste; or an anus to defecate; or a penis/vagina to urinate or procreate. HE IS GOD...He is not a human or an orangutan or an animal for God's sake!

In 'God's Image' means that He has imbued us with a mirror of His spiritual qualities, which other animals do not have in the same great quantities as human beings: forgiveness, mercy, justice, kindness, love, devotion, etc. Our bodies are physical, animal bodies with physical urges; our spirits are a small and weak resemblance of Him, with spiritual impulses. Thus we have the potential to be divine or animalistic: impulses to achieve higher noble and holy qualities in life, or base, animalistic behaviours.

Of course not. God created them in His own image. Since He was not born of a woman then He had no need of an umbilical cord and neither did the man and woman that he created. If you are a Christian and bound for Heaven you can ask them for yourself...

How awful it must be to have such a high IQ like Ozzie-19 and not have any hope for the after life...what a drab and negative outlook on life that must be...

No belly buttons on Adam and Eve, Susie:

You see, they are scars from the umbilical cord, where the infant received nutrition from the placenta.

God is their creator so no such thing was necessary.

Did you know that Jesus was our Creator? And a Bible code proves that and He is the Messiah. See www.abiblecode.com

Shalom, peace in Jesus, and happy new year, Ben

Later today, the question that's really going to annoy you is, why did Jesus have a belly button, but that wont be until after some other thoughts spring up.

The reason this question has value is because it puts a hole in the logical argument that they were the first humans.

Unless God has a belly button, then, what for?
